Ah and full size bed is smaller than Queen or King size ;(

And me being "full" means I can still eat ice cream afterwards.....seems that word has no meaning in modern English now!

I tried some Sony's this weekend:

A7 ii +50mm Macro
A6500 + 16-70mm Zeiss and 18-105mm f/4 PZ
RX10 iii

The A6500 and 6300 both have about a 2 second lag between putting your eye up to the camera and the EVF coming on. Not sure if its to save battery or in response to people complaining that the EVF was too sensitive. It was kind of frustrating though.

The A7 ii and A6500 both had not so great IBIS. I am not positive but I think the OSS on the lenses should cooperate with the IBIS, but at best I could get around 1/5 sec with IBIS on at 16mm. The images were a bit blurry but acceptable. Even at 1/10 sec they weren't totally sharp. The A7 ii was even worse, with the 50mm Macro it needed to be around 1/15th or 1/20 of a sec to get sharp.

This is better than no IS but I am a bit spoiled by my E-M1. I have gotten 1 sec exposures on that that were cleaner than the A6500 at 1/10 second.

The IBIS on the A6500 was much smoother in video than my E-M1 - sometimes the E-M1 can jerk around alot during video. The A6500 was very smooth and not noticeable. It's a shame the RX10 doesn't have IBIS, it'd be king of video cameras if it had it. But for the price its a hard buy when the A6500 + 18-105 PZ is only a little bit more expensive and quite a bit more capable.

Odd, I have a A6300 and the EVF switches instantly for me.

I also owned two a7iis and I thought the IBIS was awesome for manual glass and it was even better for the Zeiss glass with the OSS in it. I kinda miss my A7iis...I sold them to save money and went with a a6300 for video and a cheaper Fuji for stills. The IBIS was nice for video.

That being said, if your coming from Oly...I've not used their high end stuff but I know they are supposed to be the kings of IBIS.

Josh, what kind of crop factor do you get on the A6300? I read somewhere the A6500 had no crop factor and did oversampling by 2.5x to get the 4K (meaning it's 4K should be about as good as you can get on a camera) - but when I ran the 4K i immediately noticed a pretty large crop on the camera. I am not sure if it's related to the IBIS though, or maybe some kind of Electronis IS so they crop it for that.

Also to clarify on the IBIS:
The A6500 has good IBIS for video, just not so good for still images. I think it could be that Sony focuses on video more than Olympus so that is why the Oly's do better on still images.
I also heard two other theories:

1 - the sensor size impacts the performance of IBIS, so the A7 ii is inferior due to its larger sensor
2 - the focal length obviously makes an impact, so the A7 ii was using a 50mm macro, in fairness it wasn't much worse than the 45mm f/1.8 oly lens I have used, the problem is that the 50mm on a A7 ii is equal to a 25mm olympus, so the Olympus can get much better stabilization and much lower shutter speeds. However, the A6500 at 16mm was not so impressive, so...yeah.

The a6300 and a6500 both support oversampling (using the full 6K sensor readout to get 4K footage) but only when recording at 24p.

How do you use the high speed mode that Sony supports? I couldnt find the 960fps on the RX10 iii or the A6500.

When i select video it only gives me the option of 4k 25/30p (using PAL) and 1080p at 25/30/60/120p I think - but no options for 240 fps or 960fps recording.

The RX100 IV and V can do high frame rate, but annoyingly the more expensive a6500 cannot.

I haven't messed with HFPS but I do see a setting for 240fps on the a6300. Strange they nixxed it from the a6500.

Tried doing some quick and dirty very dimly lit self portraits without any tripod or external controls.
I think I should be able to use a slower shutter speed to lower the ISO and noise.. but I don't think I could get much better color detail in the jacket (Navy Blue) with the light sources I used here.

35mm f/2,5
SS @ 1/30
ISO @ 6400

And I suppose a further away background, rule of thirds etc. for the more portrait related part of it when excluding lighting.

I double-checked on my sister's a6500 and indeed, it only goes up to 120fps (1080p).

A longer exposure (slower shutter speed) will result in motion blur though because you won't be able to hold perfectly still. Since you can't really open up the aperture more the solution is more light.

Some photo editing can help though:

And more composition practice, though I'm not quite happy with how it turned out:

Yeah, but 1/30 is pretty darn quick though especially if you do go with multiple shots in one go.
Might prove more difficult with other persons on the other hand. . .

Some photo editing can help though:
True, did some quick spot application on the vest and jacket but couldn't really find any quick solutions!

Liking the spot from where you took the shot on that hot piece of ***, captured some interresting shadows and reflections.
Trying to figure out what throws me off about the picture. .

1/30s is fine but if you want a shot at a more reasonable ISO you'll have to use a longer exposure.
