Hello guys, my SM 560 case is coming in next week. I have 2x Noctua a120x25 case fans I want to use at bottom. Is there space for a fan grill on top of it? I heard the fit is very tight.

Which fan grill are slim ones you guys recommend?

I had a SM550 and was only able to fit the grill on the PSU side, motherboard side was too tight. I just got these off of ebay and they work fine. You only need the grill on the PSU side, aren't any cables to worry about on the motherboard side.

I just ordered it. Hopefully it comes with screws or I can screw in the 4 corners...

Of all the RTX 30 cards announced so far (with specs), the only GPU I've seen that won't fit the SM580 is a 3090 from MSI. As a guide:
  • MSI 3090 Gaming X Trio - a mammoth 335 x 140 x 56mm. Will NOT fit.
  • MSI 3080 Gaming X Trio is 'only' 323 x 140 x 56mm. This will fit - but only with the 'pigtail style' power cord option (see SM580 specs).
  • Asus ROG Strix 3080/3090 are as 318.5 x 140.1 x 5.78mm. This will fit - with 'pigtail'.
  • Sliger SM580 max GPU clearance: 328 x 133 x 67mm
  • SM580 GPU clearance w/ 'pigtail': 328 x 157 x 67mm
Not an exhaustive list, hope it helps!
3090 Gaming X Trio on MSI website has the same dimensions as the 3080 Gaming trio, also Optimumtech says they're identical. Where did you get 335mm length? Can anyone confirm if 3090 gaming trio are 323mm.

Techpowerup has it @ 32cm

Well it's rather simple for RTX 3080/90 compatibility :
  • SM550/570 : Evga XC3
  • SM560/580 : Asus Tuf is recommended as one (if not the best) RTX Ampere lineup..;)

Yes they will fit no problem but I'm referring to MSI gaming trio 3090. The reason I ask is I want to get this to match my MSI MB on the SM580.

That's why I consider RGB as evil...;);)
Please follow dimensions written on msi website and reviews. As far as I studied RTX 3080 cards, it should fit in SM580 as its length is 323mm...but think about way to put it into the case, it should a very tight fit.

Does your front USB C via 19 pin header works?
I have problem with mine - when I connect my phone, it start charging, but I get notification on the phone that I need to check my cable as well as I don't get data.

The other USB works (not sure of the jacks, honestly).

Sorry if this question has already been answered but has anyone bought a Linkup PCIE 4.0 Riser cable for the SM580 and knows the length to order ?

Not only does it fit, but temps seem fine! Heads up: had to force pci-e mode to 3.0 for the riser cable, just like people had to with the pcie4 radeons.

First 3090 in a sliger? Thanks for building a great case @KSliger!

Nice I am about to order the SM580. Plan on buying the FE also

i have the sm580, and i am looking for an aio solution for cooling...is the ekwb phoenix cpu block compatible? There are no technical dimensions on the site of ekwb. Also, this solution is not friendly to bending tubes. Has anyone tried ekwb phoenix cooling solution? I am interested as there is a major disccount on ekwb about this cooler.

The Phoenix MLC is all end of life, as the EK modular products always end up. They killed the Predator, then the Phoenix, now they've also killed Fluid Gaming (their Aluminum stuff). I would not suggest buying anything EK that isn't either a CLC or a standard copper-based watercooling part.

I spent a really long time being chicken about watercooling, worrying about doing a custom loop and trying to convince myself that these modular systems (like the Eisbaer/Eiswolf from Alphacool or the Phoenix from EK) would be a solution, but your problem is your tubes are going to be too long and with chunky QDCs in the middle that take up space. In the end, if you want to watercool in a 280, it's never been easier with the new Aquanaut pump/block or the Alphacool Eisbaer LT pump block. You'll be much happier doing it yourself rather than using kits.

If all you're after is a 280 CLC for the SM580, there are lots of better options, like the new EK 280 AIO or the Fractal Design Celcius+ 28 Dynamic.
