Of all the RTX 30 cards announced so far (with specs), the only GPU I've seen that won't fit the SM580 is a 3090 from MSI. As a guide:
  • MSI 3090 Gaming X Trio - a mammoth 335 x 140 x 56mm. Will NOT fit.
  • MSI 3080 Gaming X Trio is 'only' 323 x 140 x 56mm. This will fit - but only with the 'pigtail style' power cord option (see SM580 specs).
  • Asus ROG Strix 3080/3090 are as 318.5 x 140.1 x 5.78mm. This will fit - with 'pigtail'.
  • Sliger SM580 max GPU clearance: 328 x 133 x 67mm
  • SM580 GPU clearance w/ 'pigtail': 328 x 157 x 67mm
Not an exhaustive list, hope it helps!

So I am safe to purchase the SM580 or should I go for the SV590? I dont want to get the SM580 with the 3080 Trio and then it won't work at all or I will have problems

Does anyone know of a lower profile power cable for the SM580 that can be used in the standard configuration and still use a taller card like the ASUS 3080/90 Strix?

Looks like we would need a low profile Panel Mount C14 to C13 AC power cable. I'm trying to look all over the internet, hopefully I can find one shorter than the stock 12 inch offering.

My own SM580 is in the mail, so I only know what's listed in the official specs. I plan on getting an RTX 3090 (eventually) and didn't order the case until I saw some dimensions online. It's obviously a gamble - e.g. that MSI Gaming X Trio 3090 was announced after I purchased, and definitely will not fit! But the Asus Strix 3090 does, still waiting on the Gigabyte Aorus dimensions.

The MSI 3080 Gaming X Trio has a nominal 5mm clearance at it's longest point. It might be a challenge to get it past the edge of the case, but should fit once in! It would also nominally require that 'pigtail' power cable option. That said I'd defer to @KSliger for anything like "official" confirmation. I'd hate to give you bad advice! ?

For visual reference, here's a SM580 build with a big Asus ROG Strix Gaming OC RTX 2080 Ti (304.7 x 130.4 x 54.1 mm) installed.

I'm guessing you already have the case? You can order the pigtail mount separately from Sliger (see 'Parts' tab), or density.sk if in Europe. It allows you to run your existing power cable through a rubber grommet, with the entire plug outside the case and out of the way.

I think this would solve your problem? Good luck!

Yes, I do currently own the SM580 and I may order the pigtail connector just in case. But I would prefer to keep the standard configuration power cable with the taller 3080 Strix. I think either an OEM lower profile cable (if one exists - I couldn’t find it) or a custom cable would be ideal.

So I did recently sold my old CM Cosmos S with E-ATX board to downsize my build.
I stumbled upon SM550 and I can't describe how happy I am with it :)
As this is my temporary build, I already plan to use SM570 for future main, custom water cooled, build.

I have only one issue - I can't change the cooler on my MSI B550i without taking the whole machine apart. The backplate is simply not accesible at the bottom side.
Is this the same for SM570 and are there plans (and if possible at all) to fix it? Or this depends on the motherboard itself?

Does anyone have any experience with either of the following coolers in the SM550?
  • Thermalright AXP-90 Full Copper
  • Thermalright AXP-100 Full Copper (no fan, semi-passive setup only)
I've been using the beQuiet Shadow Rock LP with no fan and two NF-A12x25 fans in exhaust for my 3700x and it's just a little louder than I'd like. I'm open to using something else, but I'm not sure what the most effective cooler in the SM550 may be.

Have you looked at the ID Cooling IS-60 (fan clip version, not v2 with screws)? You can swap out the included fan for a 120mm x 15mm Noctua Fan. Total height would be 55mm with 15mm fan.

I wonder if Sliger is ever thinking about making a new revision with slightly increased CPU cooler height on the SM 550/560. Air cooling is essential for me and 55mm leaves out a lot of decent coolers like L12 or Big Shuriken 3.

I wondered that too. Was thinking that they could do it on the SM 560 since it's wider and then have a 2 slot version of it (spine moved over). But I don't know if doing that would result in another 15mm needed for the L12S's 70mm requirement. It should though.

Do you have any idea on how to find the fan clip version? All I'm seeing at retailers is the version with screws.

Unfortunately, not a reliable place where you're sure to be able to get the V1 and not the V2. Alternatively, when swapping out the stock fan with its rounded screw heads for the Noctua, you can get flat head flush screws. It uses machine threaded screws. Not sure of the size though. But you'd want to get a flat head version of the same screw so it sits flush with the fan.

That is what I did, just look for M.3 x 20mm flat head screws.

a 3 slot SM 560 with an increased CPU cooler height from 55mm to 66mm / 70mm would be my dream case.

And here you are at "not-so-sff" case. Then someone will ask for 75/80 CPU cooler height and so on.
I'd say that we need repositionable middle frame - SM560 that will go from 3 slot/55mm to 2.5 slot/65mm (for an example). Or SM550 from 2slot/55mm to 2.5slot/45mm.

I agree with this. It would be really interesting to see a T1 style configurable center spine.

nah. 3 slot / 66mm is not going to significantly impact the volume of this case.

But anyway, all our discussion is irrelevant if Sliger doesn't want to do another revision. I'm just saying what my dream case is about.

That's what I was referring to (see my post above). A 2 SM560 with the spine moved over making it 2 Slot should gain about 20mm on the mobo side making room for the Noctua L12S or even L12 Ghost S1 Edition or even a 92MM AIO on the mobo side. I predict that it might be a top seller if they made it. Perfectly SFF.
