For me the big difference is the ability to have a AIO and a window as well as having improved airflow with top to bottom fans. The M1 is not an option for those interested in having and AIO and showing off their internals.
If the old 580 was to become the 570 that would solve my issue
Oh I beg to differ I wanted an M1 that can do just that, so I made one: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/zGD2FT
The linked build is/was an experiment on my part, too see if it would work at all, and it does. Looks odd but does the job without issues. But in all honesty I am still looking for a case that is basically a taller M1 (6 cm taller), with propper support for top mounted AIO. The one issue with these types of cases is the lack of propper directional airflow (like Bottom -> Top / Front -> Rear).
I've personally never liked dual-chamber or "sandwich" cases due to different component limitations (my AIO pump alone is 71mm), but I have been following this topic closely. The SM series looks very interesting and is really something to consider. Event if it means getting a new AIO .
Perhaps one day there will be a Cerberus version with top mounted AIO
