Depends on which "old chip" you are referring to.
In my case I replaced the 2400G with 4750G.
In their default configuration (65W) They are mostly identical in thermals and power consumption.
I ran them in a room with AC (~22C), they topped out around 85C.

However the 4750G supports TDP configuration.
Now I run the 4750G in its 35W configuration.
In this setting the power consumption is halved (42W vs 88W) , max temp only 57C ,
Only 16% multi-core performance lost.
And single core performance is unaffected.

I am running my 4750G in the 35W configuration forever. ?

Is there a bios setting to adjust the TDP?

From the link.

"This allows A300 users to add the more powerful Ryzen Pro APUs."
This feature is already available I have a 4650g in my A300.

"but the A300-STX motherboards still cannot offer overclocking features for the processors and RAM"
While true for CPU/GPU you can overclock RAM. I have my RAM overclocked to 3400 C16.

Very poor article.
Notebookcheck has some pretty extreme variations in quality of reporting. I put in a comment to inform them that this isn't quite news with a link here, we'll see if they update anything.

That is really cool! Any chance you could shed some light on how the TDP change affects iGPU performance? Even something as simple as comparative 3DMark runs would be great to see :)

I am sry it is not quite feasible since my A300 is currently running ESXi in the office and has a few VMs running 24/7.

My question... Are there some news about passtrough for the A300 for proxmox and a VM with Windows 10 ?
I ask it again... Sorry.. Maybe there are some changes with the new BIOS.

I have all the time the Error unable to read/write ...

pci 0000:00:00.2: AMD-Vi: Unable to read/write to IOMMU perf counter.
pci 0000:00:00.2: AMD-Vi: Found IOMMU cap 0x40
pci 0000:00:00.2: AMD-Vi: Extended features (0x4f77ef22294ada):

sudo lspci -nnk | grep "VGA\|Audio" shows

And I like to passthrough only group 12. Means only the VGA controller

sudo lsmod | grep vfio brings

vfio 32768 2 vfio_iommu_type1,vfio_pci

I use beta BIOS 3.60N in R and S I can not swicth on iommu.

Or have someone an idea ? Windows 10 hangs when I start the VM

Anyone don't want to pay £10 for front usb ports can by this for a couple of pounds.
I bought something similar from aliexpress and had some problems.
The PC would be unable to detect usb2.0 after pluging something into that port and most of the times not even a reboot would fix it.
I had to poweroff, remove power for about 30s and then it would recognize usb2.0 again. Not sure if it was just a BIOS problem, a CPU problem (3400G), or the cable itself.

... and you aren't willing to shut all of that down, reconfigure the PC, and then reverse the process just to answer a question from someone on the internet? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you! XD

On a more serious note, I really hope someone else with a similar setup is able to run those tests.

i donät know how should this work . can't flash it on standard way

still it's done. translate thread to english and you can see that 4750g boots in a300 with bios x300 1.40, but no settings can be saved. so the author switches back to 3.60S after benchmarking it at full default settings (cpu-z = 541/5854(!), which is awesome compared to my 522/4296 score with 4650g and 3.60S). on 3.60S 4750g boots at ddr4 4000 mhz and 3800 mhz, but system hangs and only stable at 3600 mhz.

no clue about flashing it, see comment section for further details:

(note: they are recommending x300 bios for picasso, saying it's bugged with renoir)
