So I just bought the MSI 1070 Aero. I didn't actually have to modify the power connector at all because the corner of the PCB is angled. I did have to cut a tiny piece of the shroud though.

Has anyone been able to fit the LP53 heatsink and memory such as the trident z rgb memory? I know some motherboards have clearance issues.

I had an HDplex 400 but couldn't get it to fit in my logic Supply mc600. So Larry who is awesome let me exchange for the 160. After doing that I returned my logic Supply since the S4 is the main reason I found this forum and will just wait for the next preorder.

If the 160 is inadequate for my power needs I will probably buy the 400 again and save the 160 for my son's build and just dump a 1050ti in his.

I even purchased ram that was too tall so even when I get an s4 I'll need to cut a hole for it like the Linus tech build. So far my SFF experience has been a bit of a roller coaster. But I am super pumped to get everything fired up this week, I have a beautiful old HP case from 1999 or so that was my moms I'll be using in the interim. Not SFF and not pretty in any way haha.

You might be able to get away with your ram if you take off the heat spreaders.

That’s a fantastic looking psu. I wonder how it’d do with a 1060 and an i5 8400

Not to derail he S4 Mini thread as it is awesome. I read it all the time and don't even own one!

Once the H 300 series mobos drop, the i5 8400 , a nice midrange board and the 1060 will be a terrific price performance build. I'm seriously considering parting a system out to try it whenever those are available. Plug and play and should run cool as well.

Please continue all.

My z370 Strix board will be here tomorrow but I’ll have to run it with an i3 8100 quad core until the 6c parts become available. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
That will be cool to see the performance even with your i3. Ive been really looking at the i3 8350k.

I jut did a build for a friend with an 8350k. He bought a Newegg bundle to get him going and hopes to update to an 8700k at some point. Anyway the chip did 4.6 super easy and was over 10k physics score in firestrike. I was very impressed for such an cheap chip.

The i3 8350k is one of the best deals to come with Coffee Lake. Effectively the new i5 K series for under $200, which the i5 never was. I have seen several reports of 5.0 GHz overclocks which is pretty nice.

I’m sure 5 would have been totally achievable on the build I did. But I built it for a non enthusiast friend so I just let it be at 4.6. I was really impressed. He got a bundle with the taichi z370 (amazing board) and the 8350k for 359$. I thought it was pretty decent considering how hard the 6 core parts are to find. I personally think the 8100 for 119$ is just a fantastic deal for a gaming rig.

What case was the build in and what thermals was the i3 8350k hitting?
