Mon: LG 34UC80-B - 3440 x 1440 @ 75hz FreeSync.
MB: MSI z370i Gaming Pro
CPU: Intel i7-8700k
RAM: 16GB 2x8GB 3200MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX - I regretted this purchase 3 minutes later but couldn't get a refund.
GPU: AMD Vega 56 - This is the only reused internal component.
SSD: Crucial MX500 1TB - I will get M.2 later after bank balance has recovered.
PSU: Corsair CS650M - Modular ATX.
Case: Silverstone RVZ03 - Yes I know it is ugly, but this is my mid life crisis purchase.
CPU Cooler is undecided, max height is 82mm.

- Currently using Coolermaster C690II Advanced, with i5-750 @ 4Ghz, Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.2, with 2 x Xigmatek 120mm Fans, 8GB @ 1600MHz, Vega 56. I don't want the gigantic tower anymore, so my wife gets it as her computer :)
- I wanted SFF as I have a Oculus Rift that I will use in a different room from where I'll be using my PC day to day. I want it small enough and easy enough to carry without straining myself.

Can someone recommend an effective air CPU cooler to me please, max height is 82mm? Looking at these CPU coolers for the moment:
Silverstone NT06-PRO-V2
Noctua NH-L12S
Cryorig C1 CR-C1A

Thank you

My personal suggestion would be the NH-L12S. I haven't tested the others so I can't confirm their performance. Also valid in the market segment would be the Prolimatech Samuel :)

Sure, I wish I saved a few bucks and got slower RAM as I don't imagine my system, or VR specifically will benefit from it, as I upgraded from my old system due to inconsistent framerates. Or I could have got 32GB RAM @ 2400, it might have cost me a bit more but the system would probably be valid for longer as well.

It didn't help seeing the 8700k days after the purchase $40 cheaper either. Sometimes buying from eBay 'sales' suck.

Oculus specific VR benefits, or just new tech? If new tech then its no benefit to me for now as I've bought my model already, though I'd still be interested.

Cheers for the cooler recommendation, you think it would be fine for a 8700k inside the RVZ03?

Should be. It performs in the same ballpark as the l12s I believe I haven't really seen any benches with the 8700k yet though from my experience it was a good cooler
