Hello,

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 40mm?

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 50mm?

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 60mm?

I would like a cpu that manages to run at 35.000 or 40.000 points in multi on passmark, while being cooled by a small cooler under 40mm high,
Is it possible with the availables cpus and coolers on the market?

(my NUC 13ANKI5 i5-1340p can run non-stop at 22.500 pts passmark with a ridiculous small cooler)

Thank you

You mean top-down CPU coolers?
Depends on the case and the CPU you're using. Some cases are great, some are not. And also, there is a thermal limit on how much can cool higher performing CPUs without PL / UVing them (Power Limit / Undervolt).

I wonder .. so I guess something like a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 7 7700 or an Intel i5 13500?

Yes it's that, top flow is the name in french ...,

Yes Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 7 7700 or an Intel i5 13500; they might be suitable, or perhaps a 13700/14700 for his 8power cores,

For the case, I'm going to make the plans then I'm going to have it printed in 3d
The cpu cooler will use the NA-FD1 fan duct kit to have fresh air, I will put an anti-dust grille I think
There will be a horizontal rtx 4060 with a ryzer, I will also manage to bring in air from the outside if possible

Radical option would be to go top-tier i9, but PL it to 125W or even lower.

According to the tests of Computerbase, a 13900k limited to 125W shells out the same or better performance as a 13700k with its default PL of 253W. They even went so far to test the CPU with 88W, 65W and 45W, and at least in multicore tests, with 88W, it still performed above the 13700k (default 253W). With 65W PL, it did performed equal to the 13600K, too. They did a retest when the 14000 refresh came out, and due to microcode updates etc. the performance was slightly reduced, but across the bord (ie. with all tested K CPUs), so in theory, no change; a strongly PLed 13900k (125W is ess. half of its default TDP) is still able to rival or even beat any of the lower tier K CPUs at their default wattage settings (ie. non-OC).

The sweet spot is either 37mm L9 or axp36 cu with a 75w/90w target (short duration, long duration) or 47mm axp47 cu with a 125w/145w target. Since the axp90-47 is so strong there isn't really much higher tdp gains by going to 55-60mm, but you get lower noise by unlocking 120mm fan models and lower ram temperatures.

Axp90-47 is an excellent fit for Intel so you can tune them to a sweet spot around 125-145w. On the other hand Ryzen 7900 on L9 runs very cool and efficient and can beat the 13600k even at about 70 watts after tuning.

I made a small table with data from your link

(Core i9-13900K (253 W) 100% = passmark multi ≈ 60.000 pts)

Ryzen 9 7950X 570e 88W 84% 65W 71% 45 W 46%

If it's just based on height, then...

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 40mm?
- Cooling - Review: Thermalright AXP90-X36 - new 36mm cooler | SFF.Network (smallformfactor.net)
- ...or Noctua NH-L9(i or a)
- ...or ID Cooling IS-40

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 50mm?
- Likely Thermalright AXP-90x47 (47 mm), the cooper version..
- ...or ID Cooling IS-50
- ...or Hydrogon H90 ARGB (silverstonetek.com)

What is the best topflow cpu's cooler with a maximum height of 60mm?
- Try ID Cooling IS60
- ..or AR06 (silverstonetek.com)

And supposedly the best ones for 67 - 70ish:

- Thermalright AXP-120x67
- Deepcool AN600
- Noctua NH-L12S

I'm currently testing the AXP-120x67 in my S400 build. CPU max load in open frame (after 10 minutes): 68° C (closed: 74° C peak)
The AN600 supposedly performs nearly identical to the AXP-120, and Noctuas NH-L12S slighty worse. I own the first and the last one, gonna report when I'm done with the Thermalright test series (up next is the SI-100).

The CPU cooler choice, most of the time, depends not only on "which one is best", but also, in which build. Some cases may allow for better airflow despite being relatively small in allowed CPU cooler height, while others seemingly are better, but have issues like extremely annoying noise levels thanks to air turbulences (eg. the FD Terra).

I would really love to see how the
Thermalright AXP-120x67 FULL Copper
Compared to the Deepcool AN600. The price difference between them is quite substantial.
