PPL - Performance Per Liter, do you SFF?

If users want to supply more information, they're always welcome to do so. If we over complicate things by requiring long benchmarks, too much data, the participation rate will be greatly affected, thus rendering this whole thread pointless.

With that said, we need moar scores!

If, in an SFF system:

Better: more CPU power & GPU power
Worse: more volume, more noise, more RPM, more delta temperature

Then shouldn't it be like..

Score = (Processor * GPU) / (Volume * Fans RPM * Noise * Delta Temp) ?

As I said, it can't be that way, but I guess if someone wants to take over the thread and have everyone gather all that exhaustive data and users not participating because of it being too complicated, sure.

This thread is exclusively performance per liter, if you want to make a new thread about performance per liter in relation to other factors, you're welcome to create one as I did with this one :)

Man...this went from simple --> complicated. Just do what post #1 says, and if you don't like it - make a new thread XD. Even this post that I'm doing is adding to the clutter. I'll try to run these tests later and add the data point to my post :D

tbh, I've never seen something blown out of proportion like this, but this is what's fun about enthusiasts, we're invested on different levels and some offer valid points, but it is simply not realistic to gather and create a score out of what some are suggestion because of reasons I've explained. It was worthy to see if we could've though and if those individuals want to gather such data, we'll have much more in depth data.

I just won't be keeping tracks of any of it and it will not be counted on this threads leaderboard.

Alright, I'll chime in :)

Here's my setup: https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/i-think-i-found-a-little-gem-realan-e-i7.6175/

Volume: Case=245*236*100 + Brick=197*96*43 = 6.6 lt (rounded up)

Sorry, I didn't mean to ruin the party - was just trying to give constructive feedback.

Have fun guys.

Realized I forgot the picture of my setup:

(Let me know if I messed something up somewhere, I'll try to fix it before I go to bmt on Tuesday, after that it'll be about 4 months before I can fix anything.XD)

This got me thinking. How would the PPL compare to a unit capable of taking SLI GPUs? Well, I found a case with at least 4 external PCI slots (for 2x 2 PCIe x16 cards using double-width), with SFX PSU so able to be bumped up as necessary.
Then I looked up the Heaven Extreme benchmark leaderboards, and since I don't have a CPU to test this with, and I'm trying to pose a realistic scenario, I took the first entry that uses a readily-available CPU that is present in the CPU-Z benchmark reference set, namely, i7-7700K. I also decided not to look at units with extreme cooling since that would likely increase the volume outside the case, and therefore not qualify under the case volume alone, and since I don't know alll of the cooling methods they have listed, I chose Air cooliing only category since we can be sure these will be case-mounted.

So, i7-7700K reference score (o/c to 4.2Ghz) in CPU-z = 2648
Heaven Extreme benchmark score with 2x 1080 Ti = 8667
The case, a Chieftec UE-02B, comes in at 300mm x 105mm x 410mm giving it a volume of 12.9L; so "Hypothetical PPL Score" is

1,779,087 - Hypothetical User - i7-7700k - 2x GTX 1080 TI - (2648 * 8667) / 12.9L

Now, I did find another score (for the same CPU) with a single GPU using LN2, scoring 11129 with a Titan XP; and a uATX case with SFX PSU and 2 PCI slots for a single GPU coming in at 9.76L; applying the same parameters would give a score of 3,043,843, although there are doubts whether that case would hold the cooling unit he used so let's call this one a philosophical value.
So there's a nice exercise, puts the SFF PPLs into context I guess.. :)

Cheiftec UE-02B only offers 4x low profile expansion slots, not full size slots, so I'm curious as to how you would fit those GPUs in it. Could use Kimera Industries Cerberus case, that's only 18L, brings your score to 1,275,012 , still nothing to mess with.

Your volume is the issue :p

Great specs though :) why the 2400g with a dedicated gpu?

I wanted the option of having on-board video in case A) something happened to the video card B) I upgraded in the future and wanted to re-purpose the CPU/MOBO. I also bought the card after the fact when a good deal came up on here. The 2400G also had the best bang for the buck and that is basically what my whole build was about.

it's definitely a great buy and can serve quite a bit after and easily justifiable. I personally have a A10-7890K decked out with 16GB of 2400/10 DDR3 and 4.5 GHz OC.
