Haha, I do the same with the textured powder coat on Cerberus.

You don't ever think about how a computer feels until you have one like the LZ7 with matte panels.

Maybe we should... swap panels to see how they feel ? Or is that too awkward somehow ?

I'll start worrying once the 'S' in 'SFF' gets small enough for cases to be tested for mouthfeel.

Hi everyone and K888D !
I'm really new in the forum but I'm the proud owner of lz7 #17 :)

There is one question that I would like to ask K888D,
I live down under in Australia, and currently the only slim 140mm fan that I could find is the silverstone FW141 which is 150mm in length, and I have lz7 with full io port which mean it might not fit.

But in page 24, I saw K888D use the silverstone fw141 in your protoype lz7 with full io and it fit.
So, just wondering do you any mod to make that fit? or it simply because the protoype had slightly different dimension to the final case?

Thanks for the great case BTW!
It just get slightly toasty due to the summer here, so I need a fan ASAP :p

Hi there and welcome to the Forum! Its good to hear the case made it all the way over to Australia!

With regards to the FW141, yes that fan is 150mm wide an not compatible with the Full IO panel. I think the pictures you are referring to were of the LZ7 v0.1 prototype which was slightly deeper and so could fit these fans. When the design moved to v0.2 I increased the height of the case to cater for taller cards such as the Gigabyte GTX 1070 ITX, but in order to keep the volume under 7 litres I had to decrease the depth/length of the case.

I have put a list of compatible fans that I am aware of on this page: http://www.lazer3d.com/compatibility-checker/case-cooling-fan-compatibility-checker/

Or alternatively to tie you over until you can get hold of a compatible 140mm slim fan, you could always use a 120mm slim fan instead. The side panel also includes mounting positions for a 120mm fan which there are quite a few other models available. Hope that helps!

I'd try to look for compatible fans available, maybe @j0rd or @LukeD could help you out, I believe they're also from "down-unda".

So, I got the v0.2 prototype this morning and managed to migrate my whole machine into it this evening. Didn't want to make a completely new thread, so here is the imgur album:

The build isn't quite finished, but everything is up and running and there's so much more space on my desk now!

@iFreilicht thank you for posting your build, the colour scheme looks like it goes well with your existing setup. I've not seen that GTX 970 before, but good to know there is another option that fits, how is it performing in the case?

Also interesting to see you've put your Flex ATX PSU in their, although I think the case will work much better overall once you get an SFX model.

Man, I was just thinking of how great a sff case with a fan would be, and I found this! Any ETA on batch 2? I'd like one asap

Thanks and welcome to the Forum! The next batch is planned for around March timeframe.

Yeah as I said, the PSU was heating up the HDD so badly that windows took a few minutes to boot, so I'm running it externally now. Definitely wouldn't recommend a Flex PSU in this case. It also showed how problematic clearance towards the front will be with an SFX-L PSU, but luckily that will be fixed with the second run :)

It's a GALAX/KFA² Gamer OC 970. Didn't do any performance tests yet, I literally finished that post yesterday and then went to bed. :D

Well officially I wouldn't recommend putting an SFX-L PSU into this case anyway, the only real reason for doing so is if you already own an SFX-L unit. There is nothing you can put in here that will benefit from going beyond what a standard SFX PSU can supply, especially if you consider the new Corsair SF models which are amazing.

I would also argue that the resulting reduced cable management space from an SFX-L unit will outweigh the benefits of using it, I would expect temps to be slightly higher inside the case.

However for those that wish to fit one, the next batch will have a minor tweak to the HDD panel that should give a little more space for cables.

I missed out on the first run by a couple months, but I will definitely be in for the second. Thank you for your time, effort, and creativity in developing this. I hope you can turn a profit with the next batch and keep going...it looks like a fantastic product, and certainly great value at your target price.

Did a bit of real-life testing today with GTA V and Rocket League, and in terms of noise I noticed no difference to my open bench setup that I ran previously. So that's all well and good :)

Glad to see that your system is performing well, the whole point of this case was to try and create a small system that can run quietly whilst gaming. Allowing GPU heat to exhaust directly out the case with non-blower style cards is the key I think.

Thanks for the feedback and welcome to the Forum! Not sure everyone will agree with the case being "great value" from comments I have read elsewhere, but I'm trying best I can to offer something that is relatively affordable!

I'm working right now to take some of the cost out of the 3D printed parts, the case will likely still end up costing a fraction more than the First Edition, but hopefully these changes will soften the blow a little.

I'm waiting for some prototype panels and joints to arrive which I'll show on here once its built up and tested.
