I think that my new GAH110TN-M board is in need of a CPU upgrade from the Pentium G4500 I had here to get started with.
I currently have a 90W power brick that came with it which I may replace with a Silverstone 120W STX brick or a 160W HDPlex AC-DC unit when they are available again.

'T' series CPUs seem to be recommended for use on these power limited platforms, and that seems to make sense.

I understand that the TDP is capped to 35W and the standard clock speeds are reduced compared to their standard counterparts.

Is there any downside to an i5 'T'?
In the longer term,I'd like to make up a hybrid power supply and run an LP GTX1050Ti for some lightweight gaming, so would like some CPU grunt.

I do not know about 6th and 7th gen 'T' i5 but I remember that some were 2c4t and other were 4c4t. This is worth checking on ark intel.

Edit: checked on Ark Intel and all 35W i5 are 4c4t.

Merci Beaucoup Guille, I know you like your i5 Ts.
4c4t is good for me, are there any real negatives involved in used a 'T' over a standard i5?

Just lower clock speeds. I've never noticed a difference between my 8700 and 8700t in CAD and gaming.

Perfect, thanks @Windfall you're a star!
That's the answer that I was hoping to hear

Now, the small matter of finding an affordable i5 6500T or 6600T...

You can also run 7th Gen CPUs on that board, just make sure to update your BIOS. I have an 7300T running on the H110TN-E and it works like a charm.
