I was expecting something else from that title: use laptop case for thin ITX and display, not a case for laptop motherboard, but nevermind. Pretty neat project with aluminium mesh sheet

Interesting is weight:
Aluminium Perforated Mesh - 1mm Thickness - 2mm Round Hole - 3.5mm Pitch:
  • Aperture - 2mm Round Hole
  • Wire Diameter - 1mm Thickness (Flat Sheet)
  • Open Area - 29.61% Open Area
  • Mesh No - 60.8 Per Square Inch
  • Weight - 2 kgs/m2
Aluminium Perforated Mesh - 1mm Thickness - 3mm Round Hole - 5mm Pitch:
  • Aperture - 3mm Round Hole
  • Wire Diameter - 1mm Thickness (Flat Sheet)
  • Open Area - 32.65% Open Area
  • Mesh No - 29.8 Per Square Inch
  • Weight - 5.4 kgs/m2

Hi, this is my project,
I made it from an Acer 5742G, I5, Nvidia 540M,
A light gaming capable pc.
I will leave a link to the video I made.
Please feel free to leave me some feedback!
Thanks

Nice job dude!

I have a question.
I want to do the same thing with my laptop, but i have a problem with the power button.

The powerButton is integrated on the keyboard. How can i solve this problem?

The keyboard is like this

Thanks

The power button may have a separate connector from the rest of the keyboard. If not, if most likely has at least one special pin, and if you know what you're doing, you should be able to poke around with a multimeter and find it.

where would one purchase the type of aluminum mesh that you use here? Checked hardware stores like home depot and they only have sheet metal without the holes.

Nice!!

Only constructive feedback would be audio, the music track was a bit loud and so it was hard to listen on my iPhone shitty headphones, watch your mix and prioritize clean audio for your own voice.

Nice work

Mine was too in the video I showed how to find the pins with a pc power button, so you don't need a multimeter
Just disconnect the button and find the pins on the ribbon cable
