Prototype Hommer Case V1 How SFX Case should be (8.4l incl. AIO and 3slot GPU)

Hello everyone,

I am Simon and I am a mechanical engineer from Germany. I've been building some "Mini PC's" lately, but I wasn't really pleased with it. The cases that I have seen and / or installed were either too big for me or you could only sheet a 2 slot GPU or no AIO ...
For this reason, I decided to develop my own case (of course it's based on the existing cases). I tried to fulfill all my criteria which are:

- as small as possible
- AIO (at least 120mm)
- 3 slot GPU (best for MSI Trio)
- made of aluminium
- Extendable to install a 240 AIO
- Space for 2-3 2.5" and at least a 3.5" HDD
- USB-3 and USB-C on the front
- Made in Germany if possible
- lower price than the competitors​

These days I've invited offers to build my first prototype. As you can see there are four versions:

1) Basic unit 8.45l (139 x 184 x 334)



2+3) Basic unit + expansion at the top or at the bottom 11.33l (139 x 244 x 334)




4) Basic unit + 2 expansions 14.1l (139 x 304 x 334)

of course there will be glass sides, maybe also for the front.

yes a 120 AIO we will be possible in the standard.

I assembled a Lian Li PC-Q50, a Lian Li PC-Q38WA and a Kolink International Satellite Plus myself and saw DAN S4 at a friend + all the YouTube stuff.

I have now received my hardware. As water cooling in the basic version, only the polar bear LT is currently possible. Extending the case by 15 mm would make it possible to use all commercially available AIO (15mm fan). the volume of the basic version would increase by 0.45 liters.

Don't you think it's a problem that half the radiator is blocked by the PSU? Also not very appealing to have the fan mounted to the outside like that.

no, that's why 15 mm longer then it fits in and then you have enough space to the radiator. or what do you think?

Well, it's better. Still not ideal to have such a large obstruction right in the radiator's air path, though.

I will do a test today. cpu is a 2600 with oc. pictures and results then hopefully tomorrow.

I tested the AIO today. but I do not have the housing yet. That's why I did the test on the table. I have covered the radiator more then half and the exhaust air "stopped" a bit. I've been running Prime95 for about 45min. the maximum temperature was 68°C (fan at 80°C max speed). so that should not be a problem.
CPU: 2600 at 3900 MHz
