Hi

I got my hands on a Dan Case A4 v2 and is planning to build my new build in this case.
I don't need a powerhouse and I want to have a build where I don't need to worry too much about heat/noise.
I'm going with a Corsair SF450+1060

For CPU I've been looking at the Intel i5-8400 or AMD R5 2600. Cooled by either Noctua NH-L9 or Black Ridge.
My primary game is CS:GO, and I can read that the i5 will be the best choice of the two, but at the same time i'm not convinced to buy the i5-8400 when I can pay around 30$ more and get the i5-9600k.

Would it be an option to go for 9600k and "downclock" it to make it less hot?

Any thoughts, suggestions and ideas are welcome!

Primary use:
- Work (Many Chrome tabs and multiple applications running)
- CS:GO
- Other gaming

I have 9600K. Nice and cool cpu. With 125W Thermal Limit, it Stays cool and can get permanent Turbo. But i‘m using another case and cooler.

Cool, any experience with lower limits? saw a review with the 9900K @95W with very little performance drop.
What is your cooler/case setup?

Atm I have sharkoon C10 with EKL Ben Nevis, nothing special, but with 125W TDP Limit, cpu stays cool while gaming. Max 65 degrees.

But I‘m going for Ncase M1 and Noctua C14.

Get an i5-9600k + L9i and setup "Long Power Duration Limit" to 95W in UEFI.

Thank you, but settled with the Ryzen 2600 and L9a AM4.

Looking forward to build in “your” case.
Any good guidelines/correct steps or other advice?

Wow.. it was nice and easy to build.

I'm now in the tweaking phase!
I have installed a NF-A9x14 below the PSU, but it doesnt really influence that my chipset in idle easily becomes 50c hot. What exactly should that fan do for cpu and mb temp?

After lowering my vcore by 0.075 my CPU now only reaches 82.5 degrees when stressing with prime. Here the chipset, VRM and M.2 are also pretty hot. I've seen some examples with people adding a 40mm Noctua for M.2 and chipset cooling. I've got one lying around. Any advices for mounting (and if it does anything?)

Other advice?

@daddelbud: You can install the A9x14 under the motherboard. You remove the MB place the fan under it as intake from the bottom and now you install it again. This will help reducing chipset temps.

For the CPU, do you use a L9a? Keep in mind that running Prime has nothing to do with real life temps. Even on very heave CPU load application like Keyshot the temps will be 10°C lower. In games the temps will be 10-20°C lower.
