This looks really cool! Good to see I'm not (by far!) the only one toying with laser-cut case designs. This is way too big for my needs (right now, at least), but I love the aesthetic. I envy you the apparent easy access to laser cutting equipment ;)

Also, at least for me the contrast between the dark burnt sides and the lighter wood is better-looking than clean CNC'd wood. Then again, I wouldn't do this with untreated, light-toned wood. At the very least I'd oil or lacquer it in a darker hue (oak-like, or possibly even darker?).

Burn marks on the outer edges such as the top and front are going to wear out over time. Some parts will fade and is there is a lot of black residue. CNC for exposed parts are the best. if you want to keep the look you can always stain it too
