Here are the preview results of the first test with the C4-SFX.

Testsetup:

  • Ryzen 7 1700 @ default clock
  • Asus Strix B350-I
  • Nvidia Titan X (Pascal)
  • 32GB DDR4
  • Corsair 450 SFX
  • Asetek 120mm AIO (27mm Radiator)
  • 2x Noctua NF-A12x25

I used Prime95 (26.6) 8K run for max CPU load and Valley Benchmark 2.5K simultaneous. The case fans spin at 100%.

I was just about to put in an order for the NCase M1 then saw this...
When do you estimate we will see the first shipment. Just so I don’t wait a year or so.
The case is just awesome and I can’t wait to build my custom loop inside it. But if it will be a long wait I will get the NCase M1 to play around with until the C4-SFX is released.

I came over from the LTT forums, and someone from the LTT forums mentioned that...

because you opted for the side IO option, you can probably move up the front mounted drive to the top. This will ideally give us a possibility for an USB type C, which I believe will be a huge plus for many supporters. (not to mention there were significant number of people that asked for USB type C). I want to hear your opinion on this. @dondan

because it seems like there were some iterations, I'm having difficulty understanding if the 2x120mm rad AIO will fit in the bottom. Based on the pictures, if the first AIO was moved up towards the front panel, I think the second 120mm rad AIO will barely fit but that power cable extension is definitely scaring me. So the question stands, does a second 120mm rad AIO fit?

looking at the pictures, I couldn't figure out the orientation the PSU was in. Was the PSU orientated so that the fan was facing the side panel and the ventilated side facing the AIO rad or facing the top panel? Would there be a test if the temps were marginally affected with two different orientation?

I remember that the 3D designs had a cover for the empty hole for the graphics card based on if the user wanted the slot closer to the side panel or further from the panel. Is that still a thing?

Also how hard was the cable management?

Curious to know why top mount radiator gives better temps when we all know heat rises and can potentially "heat soak" the radiator, thu reducing it's efficiency....

My understanding is that natural convection [heat rises] is no longer valid as soon as there is any artificial ventilation i.e. fans.

On the subject of fans, I would want to air cool only - what 120mm fans would be recommended in a blowing down configuration?

So Radiator on top is slightly better, I suspect it'll be a little more significant on lower RPMs. Especially if you're using an open air card. It would be neat if you could try it with whatever open air card you have, on lower RPMs to see the differences.

In the configuration when the radiator is on top, would it be possible to install a 120mm slim fans on the bottom, right by the GPU? And will they be free from any case obstructions (vented holes)?
@dondan

Nice to see that vented and glass isn't THAT much of a difference though.

@emirmansouri: I don't want to rush because I like to have product that is final developed. So I think if you need a system now go for the M1 and than you can later switch.

@enome:
With the drive this will not work because the SATA power and data cable must be inside the cutout. Increasing the cutout will not help because there will be the SFX PSU behind it.

Yes you are right on the pictures I don't move the radiator complete to the front. But if you do it a second one will fit I will show that on later pictures.

The fan face to the backside so it can suck in fresh air.

Currently I don't plan to use that cover to save some costs.

What i can say that cable management is a bit more tricky on the C4 but if you don't hurry and think about what you do it is very doable. I use the default Corsair cables and it looks very clean.

Yes the water cooling compatibility list on page one is still true.

@Mallot: No you can't install fans on te opposite side.

Might've been said already but will the v1 of the C4 include mount points for sfx psu(s) and/or hdplex?

Really love how this is taking shape. The silver one looks especially good.

Some very good progress dondan, both silver and black turned out really well, just like the renders!
Also, is it possible that the Titan was hitting a thermal limit (83C) in your testing? It certainly looks like it.

@optimumtech: For a modern card there are two limits, power limit and temp limit (different ranges). For example a water cooled card with a big water cooling will not hit the same temp limit as air cooled card so it will increase as much as possible til it will reach the default power limit.

For a founders edition card the heatsink is not able to be under the lowes temp limit so the card will try to clock as high as possible til it reached 83°C then the card will start increasing fan speed or lowering clock to be on 83°C. So for a not water cooled card you should not look on the GPU temp you should look on the fan speed and GPU clock. Btw if I have it correct in my mind there are not only one temp limit the card has a internal list of different temp limits and rpm ranges + clock ranges for every limit.

Specs found in the Web:
  • Titan X (pacal)
  • Core Clock Range: 1418 - 1835 MHz
  • Typical Clock after heating up: 1600

So you can see my card clocks higher as typical with a clock of 1780.

BTW can you arrange, for an option, to let Taiwanese buyers to pick up from Lian Li? I seriously live 30 minutes from the factory.

Also, we get screwed by customs because Taiwanese import tax system is ridiculous. For example a pair of mass-drop headphone made in Taiwan went from 100 USD to 140 USD after customs plus handling fees.

I can talk with Lian Li for this topic. Maybe SFFLab can also help me out for this.
