Hi,

Pardon me, for asking such a ridiculous question, but this ITX thing is unknown area for me :)

So, I'd like to build a small home server (just a mobo, ram, and 2-3 HDD) and choosed this thin ITX motherboard:

Asus H110T
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H110T/

But I'm uncertain about the power supply. I really like to design a case, which includes the power brick, and this https://www.hdplex.com/hdplex-internal-160w-ac-dc-adapter-with-active-pfc-and-19vdc-output.html looks good to me.

The question is, can I power the mobo through the 2pin atx, or is this for something else?
And what about the psu reliability (it would be a 24/7 machine)

Later, I'd like to create a forum about the case idea, but I need the components first.

Thank You for your help!

Hi,

Yes, that's exactly right, you can power the motherboard through the 2 pin molex connector using the HDPlex AC-DC adapter. You would then have to power the drives with a power cable that comes with the motherboard, which connects to a sata power connector on the motherboard. PSU reliability should be no problem, these units work well.

Yep. Thin mini itx boards is, per spec, have power supply on board and it receives dc input. So you just need an ac-dc brick.

Just out of curiosity, why build? Why not NAS boxes? Or mod an NUC?
