News Asrock Deskmini X300

Shame that they probably again don't offer the boards without a case...

Hello guys, as A300 owner with 4650G, ask simple question, since X300 support 5000G series and we can flash X300 bios on A300, i wonder if we can use 5000G on A300 ?
As far as I know only the A300 Beta Bios works with Ryzen 4000G. When you flash a X300 Bios you can only use Zen/Zen+ CPUs. I wish somebody will tell the oposite and proof me wrong. A 5000G in the A300 would be a really nice upgrade :)
It seems that the 1.60 bios for the X300 has at least partial support for the 5000G- I'm not sure it has been tested by anyone, but theoretically they should work.

The X300 supports Ryzen 5000G. Some people already use it:

But there some kind of block in the X300 Bios, when you flash it on the A300 it will not start with a Ryzen 4000G. I don't think it will be any difference with the 5000G. But so far nobody with a A300 got a Ryzen 5000G and tried it.

That is interesting, especially if the beta A300 bios allows 4000G to post. Is this information from personal experience, or do you by chance have a link to a forum post? If we have confirmed the ability to boot 4000G on an A300 board given the right circumstances, it should not be a hardware limitation (i.e. Knoll activator).

It appears that the A300 3.60S bios does in fact have 5000G support:

This is not accurate, see post below!

So A300 is already support 5000G in 3.60S bios ? No need to flash X300 Bios ?
Wow, seriously im not asking for OC capabilities, but if A300 can use 5000G it will be awesome, i hope someone here will try and give us some insight

I got this answer when I had the same hope. Even if it doesn't work, if the beta Bios works and everything (beside S3) works, it would be fine for me too.

I double checked 3.60s for the A300 and it seems there is not full support for the 5000G series, which is unfortunate. I wouldn't expect ASRock to update the AGESA version on the A300 moving forward. It looks like the best way to support 5000G on A300 is find out why the X300 bios doesnt work.

Just a heads up for anyone with USB issues on the X300, the 1.70 bios solves those issues pretty well. so far my number 2 key is still working after a week of flashing the bios. As I thought it was a keyboard issue initially it turned out to be the buggy asrock bios for these units. which is surprising as I have never had these issues with any or my other asrock boards 🤷‍♂️

I have updated the amd drivers and microcodes in the 1.70 bios to the latest versions. if you are already running the 1.70 version bios. asrock has changed the security or addresses in the bios so the flashrom with ryzen support that fiftofar made will not let you flash a modded bios. you will need to downgrade to any of the earlier versions and then flash the modded 1.70 bios. there is nothing extra on this bios besides new amd drivers and microcodes. and the is noting you can unhide in amibcp. I'm assuming the just hardcoded most of the settings for overclocking that we use on other boards to keep them hidden.

my settings on this bios
amd 3400G
3200Mhs ram

cpu manual 3.2Ghz "I can run it at the full 3.7Ghz fine I just don't"
cpu voltage 1.39 "Just type 1.39 and hit enter, it rounds it down a tick and that's fine"
xmp on 3200Mhz "XMP setting for my memory"
csm off

everything else should work fine I just don't use VM's on this machine. or the secure boot bs.
Link to the bios file and the tools are in the link provided

Just an update for anyone wondering, I flashed P1.60 for the X300 onto my A300 and I'm able to run a 5700G. However, it looks like it breaks ram overclocking.

That's great news! Does it break RAM overclocking all round or does setting XMP work?
Isn't there a 1.70 bios for the X300? Does that work?

Upgraded to 1.70, still no manual RAM overclocking or XMP loading. The Vega 8 in the 5700G benchmarks at the same level as the Vega 11 in the 2400G with my old 3400Mhz RAM overclock.

It's odd, because the RAM overclock worked on the 2400G with the old bios (1.60).

I've been using manual settings but im wondering what PBO settings are optimal as well. Doing Auto OC +200 and setting EDC to 85 gives the highest single core clock speed (2650mhz) at the expense of ridiculous temps and voltage when on multi core - which can be reduced by lowering EDC though.

Above +50 "OC" seems to do nothing. With Auto OC +200 it only will boost to 4.65ghz.

The main issue with the stock boost on this board is you can't seem to undervolt while using it, making it a toss up between running an undervolted, all-core manual clock, or the PBO with limited current.

Or why not they put a vCore Offset option in the BIOS. This would simply give a negative offset to the vCore, reducing heat generation.

Sorry for my bad English!

May I know, what's the BIOS on A300 before you flashed it with P1.60?

I read, some people bricked their A300 when tried to flashed X300's BIOS on it.

If you "brick" your A300, there's a 5 euro chip reader/writer that you can use to flash the old bios back onto the chip.
