APRIL FOOLS: Corsair acquires Minutiae Media for $1.77 million; SFF.Network to be rebranded RGB.Network

A letter from @PlayfulPhoenix, owner of SFF.Network: Today I have some big news to share: as of today, Minutiae Media (the company that operates SFF.Network) has been acquired by Corsair! Furthermore, as a part of this transition, SFF.Network will now be called RGB.Network, becoming one of the brightest spots on the net. It goes without saying that Corsair has a massive reputation within the small form factor community, having brought to market such early innovations as the long-lived and industry-heralded Bulldog. Not resting on their laurels, Corsair also developed enclosures like the Graphite 380T, which manage to fit an ITX …

ASRock Shares Details of First Foray into Graphics Cards!

With the SFF Network crew on-location at Computex 2018, one of the first booths we’ve visited is that of ASRock, a company we’ve covered and reviewed at length for their work in the realm of motherboards and pre-built systems. Well known for their mITX and (lately) STX boards in particular, ASRock recently announced their intent to expand into GPUs by launching a broad series of AMD-powered graphics cards, which is a first for the company. ASRock has dubbed their entire series of graphics cards the “Phantom Gaming” line, with aggressive aesthetics and cooling to match. Interestingly, although there is not …

Patreon, Merchandise and Computex 2018

Computex 2018 will be here sooner than you think, and we’re incredibly excited to once again have a crew on the ground, asking the questions that are relevant to the SFF community. Last year was the first time we were able to attend the conference, and because of it we were able to create a bunch of news posts, a number of exclusives, and literally hundreds of caliper shots. This is not to mention the long string of in-depth reviews we were able to do as a result of reporting and relationships that originated on the show floor. This is especially impressive given the fact that SFF Network is a fairly small …

EXCLUSIVE: A fleeting glance of the… Vega Nano?

While enroute to the impending Capsaicin event in Los Angeles, SFF Network staff member Drew Duncan managed to find himself in line behind an AMD executive (identifiable from his ‘red cord’ badge), who had an interesting item on his person. While navigating through event security, this employee (UPDATE: Likely to be Chris Hook, a Senior Director of Global Marketing and PR at AMD) pulled out this delightful piece of hardware, in order to push it through the scanner. Fortunately enough, Drew had just enough time to snap this photo before the gentleman whisked himself away: We have essentially no other information …

Off the beaten path: Taking a look at Eye Case’s EXC-9102, a passive ITX enclosure

Walking across the Computex floor, it’s easy to spot the big and bright booths by big-name consumer-oriented business – but encircling practically all of these are more modest booths that represent businesses who sell to other business. Indeed, if you simply look at a list of all participating companies, these smaller and often times more regional brands simply overwhelm the showroom floor in numbers. As such, they are often home to some of the most interesting and innovative new items in the show. It was with an eye towards these booths that we came across an interesting enclosure by Eye …

MSI Nightblade MI3 Review

This review crosses out a number of firsts. For starters, this will be the first product review I’ve done for SFFn (as well as my last, somewhat ironically, now that I’ve taken on my new role with Minutiae). It will also be the first pre-built desktop that SFF Network has ever reviewed, given our history up to this point of only ever reviewing components and the like. But when we first caught wind of the opportunity to review the Nightblade MI3, perhaps the ‘first’ that was at the forefront of my mind was this: would this be the first pre-built …

Small Form Factor is dead. Long live Large Form Factor!

To the community, It goes without saying that smallformfactor.net has seen a huge amount of success as of late. Traffic on the news site and forum continues to grow steadily, and our community has never been larger or more engaged. We couldn’t be prouder. However, as a result of this, it’s become clear to the whole team that there’s nothing really ‘small’ about us or what we do – and, if anything, we’re set to get bigger and bigger in the future. Small is lame. Small is sad. Big is the future! Because of this, we’re really excited to announce …
