On December 9th, Enermax will launch their new Revolution SFX series of power supplies. Available in 550W and 650W variants, these 80-Plus Gold, fully modular power supplies are yet another welcome addition to the SFF market.
With semi-fanless operation up to 30% utilization, the offset 80mm fan will (hopefully) help to provide quiet operation depending on the system load. This unit appears to be based on the same Enhance Electronics platform as the SilverStone SX600-G, Thermaltake STP-0600F-G, and Lian-Li PE-550 though so it will remain to be seen if Enermax has improved on the fan controller deficiencies inherent to the platform.
Edit1: or maybe not.
Edit2: Definitely not, it’s a Channel Well unit.
Enermax was quick to point out that they will be following the industry trend of using flat cables. At time of writing, we have no word if they have opted to use highly flexible 16 AWG cables like Silverstone or stiffer 18 AWG cables like Corsair.
Matching the standard SFX dimensions of 125 mm x 100 mm x 63.5 mm, Enermax’s offering will also come with an SFX to ATX adapter bracket for those, “larger than acceptable” chassis.
We’ve reached out to Enermax to obtain the official launch prices and we’ll update the article as soon as we hear back from them.
