Battle of the Boutiques Part 2: A4-SFX | S1 | SM550 | SM560

The following article is for Part 2 of our multi-part review. If you haven’t already seen it, you can view Battle of the Boutiques Part 1 here. We had originally intended to release the 2nd and final part of this review back in July but due to immature BIOS issues with Ryzen’s latest CPUs, we experienced some questionable voltage results and instability, so we decided to wait it out. Finally, on the 15th of August, ASUS provided a BIOS update(1.0.0.3 Patch AB, still not perfect) to their ROG STRIX X470-I GAMING motherboard, so I decided to crank through this in …

Corsair, proprietors of peripherals, memory, cooling and even complete systems put on a display for interested press, and interested we were. Let’s dive in and see what they had on display. A better look at the low profile Cherry MX keyswitches that Corsair uses in some of their products. This is the same form factor as CoolerMaster will be using in their new keyboard. This particular keyboard is 21mm thick and its thinnest; And just under 27mm thick at the thickest point. The Corsair One has had a major upgrade, featuring current generation CPUs and GPUs. Yep, that’s ASRock’s Little …

An In Depth Look at SilverStone’s Nightjar NJ450-SXL

It’s finally here. SilverStone’s Nightjar NJ450-SXL, the completely passive 450 Watt SFX-L power supply has arrived. SilverStone gave SFF Network the first look (and I mean first!) at this unit at Computex 2017, and our community has waited with bated breath since then. The idea of a passive (or even just a silent) SFX power supply has been on our minds for some time. Somewhat satiated by semi-fanless designs, we nonestheless still desired that final step – completely fanless. In all honesty, I expected the first real foray into fanless SFX(-L) would have been a 300W unit at best, but …

SilverStone SX650-G and SX500-G Reviewed

We would like to thank SilverStone for providing us with review samples of their SX650-G and SX500-G units. Without their generosity, this power supply review would not be possible. The world of SFX power supplies has come along leaps and bounds in the past few years, leading to more and more powerful small form factor builds gracing our community. One of the leading manufacturers in the field, Silverstone, has recently added two more products to their lineup – the SX650-G and the SX-500G. First showcased in 2016 and again at CES 2017, the impressively specc’d SX650-G reaches as high as 819 watts …

Streacom’s Computex Offerings

Unfortunately we were unable to make it to Streacom’s suite at Computex this year, but never fear, Streacom sent me an overview of the new products they have this year. (how kind of them!) In the press release resided 3 products, however due to our innate thirst for a smaller system, only two of the products are relevant to us. First up – An active cooled variant of Streacom’s DB4, released last year. The DA4 changes things up a bit versus the DB4, meaning that this is more inspired by the DB4 than derived from. Gone is the heatsink aesthetic, replaced by …
