Promoting the creators within the SFF space is core to what we do at SFF Network, and to that end, let’s have a quick look at REMHA’s ‘CASENDRA’, launched on Kickstarter a couple of weeks back. Built mostly from wood, with a flat pack design and completely recyclable packaging, CASENDRA is a move into a more sustainable future for SFF enthusiasts.
Coming in at 8.8 Litres (152 x 212 x 349 mm), this M-ITX case supports graphics cards up to triple slot and 327 mm long. This sandwich form factor chassis ships with a PCIex16 gen 4 riser for GPU support, or a PCIex1 Gen 3 riser if you select the NAS/Home server variant.
The design takes advantage of a ‘Torsion Hinge’ design – laser cut into the wood shell. This enables a curved aesthetics, and easy component access when folded out.
The packaging is one area of interest for the CASENDRA – eschewing the usual foam and plastic for an entirely cardboard, and thus recyclable, package (notwithstanding a single anti-static bag for the PCIe riser). The eco credentials don’t stop there though, with the wood for the chassis claimed at being 70% PEFC certified product, as well as recycled acrylic, PLA and PETG components.
The chassis has quite a few options for layout, from gaming to home server/NAS duties.
