Cooling Why is it not recommended to overclock with a low profile cooler?

The cooler has low mass and very few heat pipes, it simply isn't good enough for most overclocked CPU's

That big shuriken could handle a bit of oc if you delidded. I had one with a 6700k ( not delidded) at 4.5 in a silverstone rvz02. But I know kaby runs a bit warmer than sky lake. But yeah, at these sizes they can only handle so much heat. What case are you using?

Could you mount a 120x25mm fan to the shuriken? That would help quite a bit I’d imagine.

I did. Actually a 140 or 150x25mm fan just earlier!

It has mount holes for 120mm! So it worked!

Not sure if it helped a lot because I forgot what temps were before with the 120x15mm fan lol.

I know in Prime95 2.6.6 it only went up to 81C

Well if that’s it in benchmarks, surely you are 15C cooler in normal uses. Why not run a mild oc and see how it does. If you have hwinfo64 or another sensor program you can monitor your temps and make sure you are safe.
