Annoying... in another market the full AD104 might have released much cheaper and with a much lower powerlimit :/
(I like fully enabled Die's XD)

@dc443 I like the big FE's (3090/Tie/4080/4090) because this layout would be ideal to utilize the flow through design, a SFX-PSU has the height and SFX-PSU+mini-ITX board the lenght of a big FE:

The threads in the back could be used to secure it and ~ 7,8L would be possible.
My exact thoughts as well, unfortunately they don't sell FEs here in Norway, so some of you must have a go at it... ;P

BTW what CPU/CPU-cooler would you choose?

@Ameubius bad availability in Germany as well. And I personally wouldn't have any use for so much performance :/

Just a interesting project and someone paying so much for a graphics card might as well pay 100-200$ for a custom case that is specifically made for it.

CPU-Cooler wise it would be the common 45-49mm limit. Boxed (Laminar RM1/Wraith Stealth), the new BeQuiet LP, Noctua NH-L9,...they all should be OK for 50-65W powerlimit.

I think it would be a mistake to pick a too weak CPU for the 4090, though. At least a 13600k or 5800x3d. Ideally a 7700x or similar, but the power draw from theese CPUs are a bit above 50-65W. Perhaps the black ridge or big shuriken 3, but BR doesn't support AM5 I believe, and BS3 might be too tall?

I have an ITX Gigabyte 1080 (the one from the gaming box, no black shroud), might look into moving its cooler onto this if Noobvidia / partners doesn't release a single fan ~200W 4070

@k0n Limiting an AM5 cpu to 65W would still mean 87W power draw - this should not be forgotten. Still a L9a with duct can cope with it.

I like the idea and it mgiht be worth it if a 4070Ti with 16Gb sees the light of the day. The PNy single slot cooler is good enough for 200W - the 4070Ti would still dleiver the majority of its performance with a powerlimit this low.

I meant real Watts... so limiting to 65W means setting "PPT" on AM4/5 or "PL" on LGA1700 to 50-65W. From my experience this is achievable with Wraith Stealth(50W)-Pure Rock LP(65W) at up to ~1500RPM.

80C @ 180w makes no sense to me. I have a 3060TI single fan swapped @ +15% power limit. It’s running 200+w and while my fan curve is aggressive, this thing still loads in the high 60s / low 70s.

I think his mod still needs some refinement... he posted some pictures of the adapter block on the SFF.n discord and it's a relativ thick aluminium piece sandwiched between the die and 3060 heatsink. To improve heat transfer I would use an copper-insert, directly soldered to the 3060 cooler... maybe even integrate one or two flat heatpipes...
