Hi,
I was planning to upgrade my build more or less by this year (although the new GPU releases didn't look that interesting).
Anyway I had an external 550W brick, so I thought if I were to make any significant upgrade I'd be power limited, I would start with a 1000W "commercial" power supply. An SFX power supply wouldn't fit in my case as it is right now.

My first attempt has been the easiest imaginable. I got the power supply and custom cables of the length I need them to get under the case and into the power supply. No modifications:
The result is very stable. The whole build is now very silent.
I ran some benchmarks before and after. I now have rather low temperatures compared to earlier:

(Max 54 ºC when the GPU is drawing near 240W is insane). Yet I see also a small decrease in performance (FPS in benchmarks):

Green before, red after, it seems that all results are slightly but consistently worse.

The GPU power consumption when "idle" or resting between runs, seems to be higher (40W) than the 6W of the brick:

Am I seeing the effects of unintended undervolting?
