SFF.Network Steam Machine With SteamOS Geekbench Results Make an Appearance

Either someone forgot to turn off their internet connection, or VALVE’s NDA isn’t as strict as most – Steam Machine Geekbench results have again appeared, this time running SteamOS. Under VALVE’s codename ‘Fremont’, the AMD powered Steam Machine clocks in at around a 2300 single-core and 7350 multi-core score.
Specs-wise, we can see the same processor is being used as earlier results (around August last year), which appeared with Windows as the OS at the time. The AMD ‘Custom CPU 1772’ is recorded as a 6 core, 12 thread unit with 16MB of L3 cache and an indicated base frequency of 4.86 GHz.
The Steam Machine clocked in similar scores on SteamOS as it did last year on Windows. For reference, the scores it achieved are around an Intel i5-12500, or an AMD Ryzen 5 8500G on single core, and closer to an Intel i3-12100F or AMD Ryzen 5 220.

Not a powerhouse of a system. We’ll have to see where the pricing lands. If rumors of a $1,500 price are real, I don’t see many SFF fans buying it other than for the novelty of owning it.
