I had that issue a while ago where I had to grab a cheap amd apu to update my other board so it would take a 2700x.
I was gonna grab the gigabyte itx board but I hate the other fan header position, and that fact that it only has 2 fan headers.

Im gonna hold off on motherboard atm. Reports say little to no performance difference between the current x470 and x570 boards.

From the pricing I've seen so far, I don't see much reason not to go X570 unless the fans on them are cause for concern to you. The only ITX X570 I can find for sale on Newegg so far is Gigabyte's, but it's only $219. That makes it only about $13 more expensive than the most expensive X470 ITX board on Newegg and about $40 more than the cheapest X470 ITX board. That's a far cry from the reported "$100+ increase" over X470 that we were supposedly going to see with X570.

To me, just not needing to mess around with reflashing the BIOS is worth $13 lol. Not to mention superior VRM's seemingly across the board and better memory support. Also support for the inevitble PCIE 4.0 GPU's and SSD's coming this year and next if that happens to matter to anybody.

I mean not only that, but the I/O is absolutely abysmal
Guess I'm gonna.....wait

edit: or maybe not. Found a good deal on a 1200/x470 combo that I may pick up and sell once the x570s are released.

I'm a bit unclear on that with the new X570 ITX board from Gigabyte. In previous advertising I saw that it only had 2 fan headers, but now that it's out I'm seeing it advertised as having 1 CPU fan header and 2 case fan headers. Does it, in fact, have 3 headers total? If it only has 2 that pretty much crosses it off my list since I'll need 1 for my pump and 2 for my 4 fans.

There are 3 but they are in odd locations, I downloaded the manual since I ordered the board. CPU header is next to the 8pin ESP, there is one system header between the bottom of the ram and the usb front panel header, the other system fan is next to the front audio header.

You are right. I missed the cpu fan header when I looked on the official spec sheet. Still crappy locations though.
Would require me to reroute the cables in my sm560.
I am with you bio. If I didnt already have the Strix x470 itx, I would buy the new one. I just dont see anything atm that makes it
a must have over the current boards.
I'll get one at some point probably but not right this instant. If anything, I'll wait for the asus itx.

From guru3d closing:
"There will be no performance differences and, since the memory controllers reside on the CPU, the memory frequency and compatibility will be the same as well".
When I finally decide to get a second nvme, i'll get one for sure.

edit 3700x and the gigabyte itx board sold out on newegg.

The gigabyte board only has two available fan headers. That third one you are referring to is header for the heatsink fan for the m.2 drive.

Interesting @Polski03. That was what I originally thought but listed here on gigabyte site:
1 x CPU fan header
2 x system fan headers

If the official site is wrong, it's a bit ridiculous that detective work is needed to determine the right amount lol.
I was not able to find 3 in looking over the pictures. That's why I originally said it only had 2.
If it is only 2, after one of the most ripped items on their previous board (other than the vrm) was only 2 fan headers, im glad I didnt get it.

Yeah I looked at the manual also and saw the additional spot next to the pcie but it mentions that it is specifically for the m.2 fan. The header is also different from a traditional fan header if you look at it.

That is crazy to me. Yet again, the Gigabyte offering only has 2 headers then.
That is probably why I couldnt find it in the pictures. It's different. I was not looking for different haha.

I'm rather curious then why the specs on the product page say 2 case fan headers and 1 "CPU" header. Obviously the chipset fan is not a CPU fan. Was that simply a mistake by whoever typed up the webpage?

Need a recommendation. I am getting a new cpu due to me downsizing and the limited to no availability of getting a z270 itx mobo for my i7-7700k. I am not sure what to go with. I mainly use my PC to game at 4k and do other casual pc stuff and am weighing on whether to get the new 3600 or possibly the i5-9600k only because when playing at 4k it is mostly taxing on the gpu so i dont see a need to get a better cpusuch as the 3700x or i7-9700k. What would you guys recommend? Downside for going AMD is the need for better ram as all I have now is 2400mhz ram as it doesn't matter so much for intel CPUs.

Spend more to get a Z270 ITX serverboard or recrtified, there is very little performance gain for switching to a 9700K or 3700X.

Will be spending $250-$300 on it, but better than $500 for new CPU + MB for almost zero performance gain - throw the difference into a better GPU.

Pretty loaded question @Polski03 . How far are you downsizing? Im my particular case, I like the SM560 a lot. If you are going to use something that size, to me, it makes a heck of a lot of sense to stick to one of the 65 watt tdp parts like the 3600 or 3700x. They are simply much easier to cool than the higher watt tdp counterparts.
Certain games like Far Cry 5 start to show some limitations in a 6 core so I decided to go back to a 8 core cpu in the 3700x. I had a 2700x but found it too hard to keep cool with the small coolers like the Noctura L9a. I downgraded to a 2600 and it was miles easier to keep cool and stays quiet. Quiet is my main factor anymore in hardware.
You have to determine exactly what you want out of it. I could easily upgrade to a SM580 case and go all out, I simply don't need to with the 3700x.

@KSliger is right. To me however, I rather spend some more to get a lot of updated tech and a cool running cpu, rather than dumping that kind of money on a old system. Its older and still good, but there won't be any room to move up again in the future. z270 is a dead end chipset.
I would look around for some deals on ebay. I'm sure lots of ppl getting rid of 2x Ryzen processors, and even new ones were on hella good sales.

On a different note, I hope everyone who celebrates it had a great 4th.

for the sliger 580 running 2 bottom fans and 2 fans on the top radiator, how many fan headers do you need? Noob question.

Depends on the amperage of your fans and the rated amperage of the headers. You can technically run all four of them off a single header if you don't exceed the amperage rating. However, you lose the ability to control specific fans through PWM. In my case I'll be using Noctua's industrial 140mm which have high amperage draw, so I need to be cautious about using too many on one header. Also, I want to be able to control the top and bottom fans separately.

Also, if you're using an AIO you most likely will need a dedicated header for the pump. So in that case you would need at least two. One for the 4 fans and one for the pump.
