hey legend he commented on your post and said stay tuned
HOLY CRAP, you're right! They replied to my comment and said "Stay tuned... :)".

@Josh | NFC It's happening! Quick, get another emergency crowdfunded batch ready to fund the possibly incoming boom! :D

EDIT: Josh, I just verified that the "Stay tuned... :)" reply was from one of the Staff members at LTT, so they're definitely working on an S4 Mini review video! :D HYYYYPE!

Everybody on the HYPE TRAIN, my SFF bros!

did josh say something about the next batch being able to take 1070 and 1080 mini cards easier?
If you had purchased the alternate 7mm thick acrylic bezel with your batch#3 S4 Mini, the 1080 can fit without mods at all. :D

Mine was a late Batch #2 S4 Mini (I think) so my bezel was the early 5mm acrylic one and so my 1080 mini was modded to fit.

To be fair, I think the video was aimed at cases that fit stock, off the shelf components (which precludes the use of SFX PSUs exclusively)

:/
fair point. Maybe this is all just primer, leading up to another TRUE SFF Case review video? that might include the S4 Mini?! :D

EDIT: So it seems my comment on the LTT video stirred up some interest from others, also awaiting an LTT S4 Mini review vid. :D

OH and I started my build thread for my S4 Mini over there too, https://linustechtips.com/main/topi...lic-ant-man-44l-7700k-delidded-gtx-1080-mini/
Hopefully It'll catch their eye before they finish editing the S4 Mini video and see that a 1080 mini can fit and all that stuff. :D Plus, maybe even attract some more customer's Josh's way! :D

the hype is definitely real!!!. However josh did say he sold approximately 250 cases last run. That is pretty insane in itself for kinda of word of mouth selling. If linus does a solid review i wonder if josh would do a kick starter or just try to sell from his site. I would definitely take another round of ordering through the site in conjunction with the review if it happens just to take advantage of it. Just glad i got in on his last round.

Question: could a LP53 be used as a fanless heatsink with a 35W CPU inside a completely fanless NFC S4 build? What other heatsink could be used within the height limit?

I'm imagining this kind of build

i7-7700T (35W) + fanless heatsink
fanless nvidia gt 1030 (30-40W)
internal AC-DC 160W brick
internal DC-DC 160W

I think it would be neat.
In b4 coil whine.

edit: by the way a Noctua nh-L9x65 is 51mm without the fan

@all-in While I am a fan of the idea, I think if you use a fan at 800rpm..it would be still silent and you at least will be pushing that heat somewhere. Otherwise it's just gunna turn the case into a giant heatsink

You have a point, for peace of mind even a nh-l9i with low noise adapter on 35W CPU + passive gpu + passive PSU would be plenty silent.

The thing is, "fanless" and "passive" can be deceptive. Normally, I see "fanless" used to mean "You don't need to use this with a fan" where as "passive" seems to mean "this cooler can function off of other fans in the case." As far as I know, the LP53 is meant to be used with fans elsewhere in the case and it's definitely proven to perform excellently with a fan on top of it.

Unless you're circulating air, most heatsinks won't do much of anything.
