????? not sure on power source yet????

I am paranoid that the dell or omen bricks will just fail under the loads that these components will impose. Every calculator that I put these components into shows a much higher draw than the 330w of the bricks available. Isn't the HDPLEX used as sort of a capacitor to amp up the incoming power to 400w? I know very little when it comes to this custom build. This is my very first custom build and SFF appeals to me more than a gigantic case but it is wayyyy more intimidating. Please advice.

I have similar components as you. A genuine Dell 330w or HP Voodoo 330w ac adapter will work well in terms of powering the HDPlex 400w DC-ATX, or the KMPKT Dynamo 360+160 mini combo.

It doesn't work like that. 'Amp up' the power? First law of thermodynamics: energy is not created out of nothing.

The 400W is just a rating of maximum wattage it can handle.

You're still bottlenecked by the brick.

as an example - I have an i5-8400 (65w 6 core) + GTX 970 (145w) with a M.2, 1xSSD and 1x7.2k HDD powered from a Dell AC DC Adapter and HDPLEX 400w and they pull while playing Far Cry 5 at the wall 265w (MAX) but averages -> 160w-180w.

I may try stress testing potentially if that is wise to do so.
I would be limited with 300w as a safe limit as its also passively cooled (Dell 330W AC DC Adapter - brought from Centrecom that was sourced from Dell - I would assume its legitmately genuine)

One would have to assume GPU spikes that is. one could underclock the gpu) it if that really worries you (if that helps at all?)
