Hi guys and gals,

I am playing around with an online CAD program and i am trying to figure out the size of the motherboard mount holes. Mini-ITX Addendum states they should have a 3.96mm dia. But that falls BETWEEN the M3.5 and M4 specs.

If I specify M3.5 will the standoff self tap to the proper dia? If I specify the exact dia what would the thread pitch be?

Most motherboard standoffs use #6-32 or M3 thread on the female thread (for the screws that secure the mobo).

Are you talking for the male threads for screwing the standoffs to the case?

Yes the hole in the case for the standoff itself.

Oh ok I see I was reading the addendum wrong. I should be able to use a standard M3 or 6-32 screw hole right?

Most standoffs that come with cases have 6-32 male threads, so you'd want 6-32 threads in the chassis to use them. If you're sourcing your own standoffs then it doesn't really matter, but I'd stick with 6-32 or M3 for simplicity.

Those pressed ins are nice. I will keep them in mind for my next design.
