Lint free cloths and static...

So, on the one hand you need the cloth to clean the surface and apply the thermal paste. On the other hand, cloths build up static. How does one reconcile this issue?

The amount of static built up by a cloth cleaning your IHS should be negligible in this situation. However, the safest bet is to wear an anti-static wrist strap, which will enable said static to dissipate via your body

I see. Didn't realize a strap and mat would draw it out of the rag.

Are these so called static free cloths legit? Desco doesn't sell them and I don't recognize any of the companies selling them.
