I have googled a bit and I believe the issues is with PS_ON signal. https://i.stack.imgur.com/7M2YW.jpg Probably some capacitor either in MBO or PSU. Given the fact it works fine with the old PSU, I'd assume it is PSU's capacitor.
Another HDPlex400W is on order now, and this should at least tell me whether there is some incompatibility between this PSU and AsRock MBO or the PSU was faulty.
I will keep you updated, thank you all for the support.

Did you happen to try it with the switch wired up to the PS_ON header next to the 24pin header on the PSU?

if it does the same thing then at least it'd take your mobo off the suspect list for sure imo. Just an idea...

Hi all. It seems I am having issues with my HDPlex 400W.
I used to use HDPlex 300W and yesterday I received the new 400W. However, I am not able to power on the PC once I shut it down from the OS.
Could you check the video and give me an advice what might be wrong in my setup, please?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uszy6qh780b212q/My Movie.mp4?dl=0

I use Dell 330W brick and the board is ASRock Z270 Fatality itx.

Thanks!!!

In your video, I couldn't help but notice you're using a FC5 with a low profile heatsink backpacking on top of the heatpipe assembly. Very nice :thumb:

And is that an intake duct?

Just got my hd plex 400w and i have a big issue. With everything connected correctly i can power up my pc but the pc will nexver power off. Using the switch or windows 10 to shutdown the pc acts as if i requested a restart.the hdplex will shutdown the led goes from orange to blue then right back to orange and powers the pc back on. The only way i can shut it off is to pull power from the pc. Im using the dell 330w power brick. Mobo is a
GA Z170N. the mobo powers down fine on my old psu. I beleive my psu is a lemon.

Possible misplug in the power switch pin? Maybe its in the reset button pins...

Well, I guess I cannot mess up anything by doing this, but just to be on the safe side, I'll leave it as it is as I have a new PSU on order.

I don't wan't to hijack this thread so I'll just give a description in this post and in case you need more information send me a PM, please. I will gladly reply back.

Here is a better photo:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bbnv454l10nh21k/IMG_2255.JPG?dl=0

Case: Streacom FC5WS EVO
MBO: ASRock Z270 Fatality Itx
CPU: Intel i7-7700 (non-K) 65W TDP
RAM: Kingston Technology HyperX Savage Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4
HDD1: Samsung 960 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 (under the MBO, not so happy, but the temp is ok)
HDD2: Samsung 850 PRO - 2TB SSD
PSU: HDPlex 300W (hopefully 400W) and Dell 330W brick AC-DC

The heatsink is removed from the CPU's stock fan. There is a hole drilled at the bottom of the case and Noctua 120mm ULN with filter in intake mode is installed.
The duct is some free model I found online for 120mm fans, and printed it out for $25. This adds a bit of air flow to the case yet the system remains inaudible.
I also had an idea to expand the hole on the back of the case with a dremel so I could put a dual slot GPU (Zotac 1080 Mini). As this card's fans blow the air out I had an idea to print out a box shaped case which would serve as duct to extract this air through the back of the case. It would keep the good airflow direction with Nocuta's fan which is already in place.

Coolmaster calculation is 316W @90% TDP with 1080 Mini and I truly hope this new HDPlex 400W will work.
I also wish there was a more powerful AC-DC brick so I could put 1080 Mini Ti (388W @90% TDP).

This is what the setup looks like once it is in place https://www.dropbox.com/s/ozz7amqudgv1kc4/Setup.jpg?dl=0 (I added some heavy curtains in the mean time).

It would be nice if someone did a comparison review on the available sff psu's to date in terms of HD Plex/Pico/Guryhwa. I think if a comparison review was made more available talent would come forward. Making all our lives much, much.....more pleasant
Not sure what to say I have guryhwa arch deamon limited edition and it is beautiful. It completely removes cable clutter since it is a 24 pin psu. You do need to mod the S4 mini case which is the only reason I am currently not using it and also cause I haven't upgraded to a 1080ti. It can handle more work than the hdplex.

The hdplex 300 I used and had coil whine only when stretched to the limit at 300w. All the cables we're not black but the 24pin cable came with a rainbow sleeve which was nice.

The hdplex400 is a different level of beauty when compared to the 300w. No coil whine but it is possible I haven't push it hard enough. All the cables are black thank god so no painting needed.

Not overheating issues with any of them. They all worked in powering my 7700k and gtx 1080. I guess someone can go into more depth and test the efficiency on them. Not sure what else you would test.

What external AC-DC are/were you using with HDPlex400, 7700k and 1080?

If you're going to go as big as the Protec for 300 USD, might as well go for the Eurocom at 475 ;)

Probably a bone head move but meh, I like future proofing (And maybe a 1080ti down the line ;). I'm probably going to snag one of these, and from what I can tell its a 4 pin out to go to the HDplex. Any idea what input jack I'll need to swap out the one that came with my HDplex400?

My google-fu isn't too great today, I found one website:

The one in the picture to the far right looks like my best option for fitment.

It seems I have not luck with HDPlex400. I just tried out the newly ordered one and the behavior is the same i.e. not able to power on the machine after it was shut down from the OS.
I guess I will have to wait for some future version of it and try then. Unfortunately there is no other PSU options for me at this moment and I have to stick to HDPlex300. It remains a mystery to me why 300W version is compatible, but 400W isn't.

I'm trying to remember, I used to have that same problem.
You could try using a power regulator between the brick and the wall.
Try disconnecting the Graphics Card. Use the integrated graphics just for testing.
I remember my PSU not giving enough power, and it behaved strange. It wouldn't always turn off.
