I think your cables provide only one GND. I do not know it is safe though.

Yeah I saw that, so your question is the same as mine...."Is one GND safe enough". The other option I have is buying a sata to molex...chopping off the end and crimping on my own cables.

It depends. If you're only using SSDs and 2.5" HDDs, yes, they will only use 5V and thus one ground will suffice. Even if one 3.5" HDD is involved, the power drawn will be very much below the limit for any of those cables. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thank you so much for this! It will be powering a single 2.5 SSD, so I guess. When the build is all up and running I drop by with some pics.

This thread motivated me to finally undervolt my 980 so here's what i came up with.

At 1250mhz with 1.05v im hitting 140w max in unigine heaven. I have my tdp set to 150w for overhead to avoid potential clock speed throttling.

Paired with my 4790k 3.6ghz at .93v with 2 ssds, Total system wattage is 242 in prime95 + unigine heaven

alex: How were you able to measure the TDP on your system? If the 4790k is defaulted at 85w....that + 150w...comes out to 235w....so your mobo and ram take up only 7 TDP?

I use a kill-a-watt p4460 to see system wattage. Also, i have my 4790k underclocked and undervolted. The stock voltage for 4790k is 1.0875v at 4.0ghz and it actually uses closer to 110watts. I'm using .93volts at 3.6ghz currently. My cpu is maxing out at around 55w according to hwinfo, and system power without gpu is around 95 if i remember correctly.
