Dear all,

I’m new to this part, have some experiences with PC, but not so deep.

I can across the ogre-250, and was impressed by the idea, but with the HDPlex 500, I think there are more possibilities.

my question is about the 24 pin ATX connection, if you connect that to an PCI connection, how much power will be available at the connector?

I’m considering this adapter:

chenyang Oculink SFF-8612 4X auf PCIE X16 PCI-Express Adapter mit ATX 24Pin Power Port für Mainboard Grafikkarte https://amzn.eu/d/8eowj0n

And if it’s is still necessary to connect the PCI-E cable to a gpu.

thnx in advance.

Those adapters will allow you to connect via OCuLink - most of the time you should be comfortable pulling a full 75W from the slot with an ATX 24-pin connected.

If your GPU has a supplementary power connector it will obviously still be required.

So on the pci connector you would never be able to have more than 75w to supply a bigger gpu.

I’ve seen that the hdplex only has one pci-e connection. Can you connect a dual 8 pin gpu to this, if tgp is around 270w?

It has a single 8 pin output but comes with a cable that has two 6+2 connectors.

I tried to find an info about the power output on the PCI-e port, but nothing is available on the internet. Do you know how much power the port is delivering?

it only has one 12V power rail - so in theory you could pull the full 40A out of each 12V connector - only problem is: a single 8Pin connector can not handle 40A/12v

you would need to DIY your own cables and make use of both, the PCI-E and CPU EPS

But if TGP is 270W as above, not an issue. :)

270W - more likely 220W from the PCIe cable and 50W from the slot, so less than 20A which is feasible over 3x 12V conductors - it's above official PCIe spec but definitely doable.

Agreed, just saying better not to pull 40A from one of those connectors ;)

what's the maximum GPU wattage that's "safe" to pull from the single PCI-E connection of the HDPLEX 500w GaN PSU? I'm hoping to power a FE 4070 Super using the 12vhpwr adapter cable, so using both the 6+2 connectors on the single GPU cable from the 500w GaN. The GPU pulls approx 220w it seems under full load.

2x 8Pin does 300W... the 500W GaN comes with 2x 8Pin to 8Pin so HDPLEX must trust their 8Pin to deliver 300W (over 6 Pins).

Interestingly, when I emailed HDPLEX about using the PSU with GPUs that have 12HPWR connection, I got the following response:

"We don't recommend 12HPWR cable. This cable design has internal flaws."

Unhelpful but true statement... XD

The 6 Pins on the HDPLEX delivering 300W for 2x 8Pin PCIE is the same per pin load as a 12vhpwr delivering 600W.

The old pins are bigger but rated for only half of the pins on 12vhpwr (on a standard 8Pin pcie).

I think what they mean is this:

the 12VHPWR connector itself has flaws, starting from the design specs which are unclear, over material choices made by the suppliers and manufacturing tolerances that have not been accounted for

If I were HDPLEX, I also would not offer 12VHPWR cables until all the issues with this connector are fixed - once and for all

Completely agree, especially when the majority of users could get by with 8-pin, dual 8-pin or an adapter until you're sure a fix is in place

I asked if they planned to produce their own cable in the future, and got what is *hopefully* a promising response. I guess till then I'll have to make other plans for my use case hah

He guys,

have been busy building this thing in Fusion, this is the result.
The color is just for the contrast, now calibrating my printer and hoping to show you some real pics the next few days.

included parts:

- hd plex 500w gan
- ARCTIC S4028-6K - 40x40x28 mm... - DC Lüfter Regler 12V,... - NFHK 4X Oculink SFF-8612 SFF-8611... - ELCART 3-poliger Stecker für...

Let me know your comments.

I'm very interessted in how the 12 pin will ever be made "mature".

The bigger pins were limited to 4.17A... the smaller ones are now supposed to handle 8.33A 🥵

New Update

Some pictures of the latest prints.

These are done with my poor ender 3.
if all the parts fit, I will have a professional printing service generating this pieces.

Good morning,

After a weekend long work, here is the final result.
Pls remember, this is a prototype on an Ender 3, with limited space and quality.

the size of it is 7.1 x 7.8 x 29,5.
the weight, 1,14 kg.
Connection is via a oculink.
It should be able to power any current GPU on the market.

Currently these are lose components, but will be printed as one piece except the middle beam and the top part.

if anyone is interested, you may send me a PM.
