GPU EVGA 1060 Bios Update

EVGA just released a new bios update for their single fan 1060 models that allows for a 0dB/semi-fanless mode that the original BIOS did not. Just thought this might be handy for others who are planning on using this card.

Seems like a big oversight to not include this to start with but better late than never.

1060 release was ultimately a rushed response on nVidia's part to respond to the RX480. I'm sure there will be a number of housekeeping patches done like this over the next several months.

Yeah but it also seemed like AMD was rushed, overall both AMD and Nvidia's rushed campaiging seemed to indicate they didn't have enough time to prepare and maybe had no clue what eachother were doing. The advantage of working at different fabs this time around ?

To be fair, no ITX 960 or 950 had this functionality to my knowledge, so I'm actually very excited that it is now possible. The EVGA 1060 ITX SC shapes up to be one of the best ITX cards of all time (until next generation of course).

EVGA's 950 and 960 ITX models both had the 0db feature, they are great cards. Although due to this the 960 idle temps were quite high.

Oh, didn't know about that. Then it's indeed a little strange they would omit that feature on the 1060s initially. What kind of idle temps are we talking about? 50°C, 60°C, or even higher?

Not quite that high! It's about mid 40s, which isn't too bad considering the fan is off.

In comparison the Gigabyte GTX 960 OC mini card (the one I'm selling) idles in low 30s.

Mid 40s passively is amazing, HWMonitor reports 48°C on my current GALAX 970 in idle and that has 2 fans constantly running.
