Hi all, a new Beta BIOS Update has just quietly arrived on the official ASRock DeskMini X300 BIOS support page, has just quietly arrived on the official BIOS support page of the ASRock DeskMini X300, the Beta BIOS "L1.80C" which has the only description: "Update AGESA", so I thought it must be the update to AGESA ComboV2PI 1.2.0.8 but in fact I was not there at all, because according to the software "Ryzen SMU Checker v1.2.2.0", the versions of the SMU firmwares for the Renoir and Cézanne APUs are respectively the versions 55.93 and 64.71, and therefore more recent versions than those present on the AGESA ComboV2PI 1.2.0.8, so after some tedious research on the web I was finally able to determine the version of the AGESA firmware present in this Beta BIOS and it would be the very latest and very recent AGESA ComboV2PI "1.2.0.A".

So don't ask what's new and other updates in this version "1.2.0.A" compared to "1.2.0.8", I don't know and I couldn't find any post about it , I can only assume it's still bug fixes, maybe slight performance and stability improvements, I haven't even had time to test this Beta BIOS yet, I'm coming to you talk about it and put the download link just to share what I learned and saw with you. If you ever decide to test it, do not hesitate to share your feedback.

News:
30/03/2023:

Beta BIOS "L1.80D" (thanks to micky1067)
Changes: -Seems to solve a problem of returning from Deep Sleep and also Wake On Lan

11/05/2023:
Beta BIOS "L1.80F" (thanks to ASRock😅)
Changes: -??? I don't know ??? Apart from the fact that ASRock officially admits that it is an update to "AGESA ComboBIOSv2 PI 1.2.0.A", although it has factually been since Beta BIOS "L1.80C".

10/09/2023: No newer bios version but i have uploaded all BIOS versions what i have on a free download server.

05/01/2024: New Release Candidate #1 BIOS "P1.80.RC01" added (changelog: -New "AGESA ComboBIOSv2 PI 1.2.0.Ba" -No S3 Support(Apparently from what ASRock technical support told me the problem will never be completely resolved, in my humble opinion they have abandoned the idea of solving the problem, too much money and investment of time for a product that will soon be EOL...)

18/04/2024: New Release Candidate #2 BIOS "P1.80.RC02" added (changelog: -New "AGESA ComboBIOSv2 PI 1.2.0.C"

23/04/2024: New Beta BIOS "P3.70E" added for ASRock DeskMini A300 mobo(A300M-STX) with most recent "AGESA ComboBIOSv2 PI 1.2.0.7" and compatible with Ryzen 4xxxG/5xxxG APUs

09/05/2024: New Release Candidate #2 BIOS "P1.80.RC02.SL01" added (changelog: -New "AGESA ComboBIOSv2 PI 1.2.0.C" )

With the return of FUNCTIONAL S3 support!!!

13/05/2024: New Release Candidate #2 BIOS "P1.80.RC02.SS01" added (changelog: -Spread Spectrum Disabled (More regular voltages and more precise FSB))

26/09/2024: Greetings everyone, I just got an update from ASRock support regarding the DeskMini X300 only, it seems they have just developed what will probably be the final (and possibly last) BIOS for it, version "1.82". It contains the latest version of AGESA for AM4, version "AGESA Combo V2 PI 1.2.0.Cc" which fixes the major security vulnerability "SMM Lock Bypass" that affects all Ryzen CPUs/APUs up to the "Zen3" architecture. They also sent me a variant "1.82.SL01" which is a test version adding S3 sleep support, like the previous version "1.80.RC02.SL01".

08/10/2024: Added new final/official BIOS "P1.90" for DeskMini X300

09/10/2024: Added new final/official BIOS "P1.90.SL01" (variant with S3 Sleep support) for DeskMini X300, thanks to ASRock Support

16/10/2024: Added new Test-BIOS "P1.90C" (thanks to obrida) a variant of final "P1.90" BIOS with ACS enabled by default, "it should enable IOMMU groups without the "pcie_acs_override=downstream" kernel param that wrecks security, and do whatever the equivalent of ARI enumeration does."

27/10/2024: Added new Beta-BIOS "P1.91", changes: Add Curved Optimizer Option for the Supported CPU.

Im still using the 1.70 BIOS with a 5700G and 32gb of 3200mhz Corsair ram. What benefit is there going to this new bios? I know with 1.70 there is no sleep function available. Does this resolve that issue? Is it worth the upgrade?

The notice that X300 does not support S3 state was removed from the asrock website..
That's probably why they are currently releasing new beta bios every week. 😅
In my opinion, this is a sign that S3 will work soon.

It would be weird if S3 worked. Asrock support wrote to me a few days before the release of the bios " S3 is not supported by hardware limitations. BIOS Update will not help to get it work.".

According to the I've downloaded 1.80e and S3 sleep started working, literally after years with A300 and X300! 1.80f seems like removing S3 again :D

quote: Nope, the sleep options appeared automatically with 1.80c , 1.80d and 1.80e; but it is now gone once again with 1.80f

did sleep actually work reliably with those versions then?

Yes, but only on version 1.80D WoL work after a power failure.. thank you ASRock for "a piece of good work" 😅
Here is a link to an online folder which contains all the BIOSes (Finals and Betas) for the ASRock DeskMini X300 motherboard which have been officially released or which have leaked including the "L1.80D" version which you seem to be trying to obtain, here is the link to the online directory:

I want to be excited, I really do, but i just cant trust ASRock at this point, well see if they do better but after the A300 fiasco, the X300 is getting behind on AGESA security updates as well.
Only a matter of time.

I can't help but get excited...... Can't wait to put a 8700G into one of these to replace my A300......
The iGPU is as fast as a GTX1650, and in some cases the GTX1060.
Depending on your use case, but it also supports the latest FSR etc.

For some room/couch gaming that is often fine.

I am not with a lot of other people who complain that it looks horrible.
In most cases I think it looks fine, especially when playing from 4 meters/12 feet away.

It's a lot better than not being able to play at all is my philosophy. 😇😂
