Dumb Question About T-Shirt as Filter?

Playing with an idea..

I'm a little concerned about dust with my 3 Liter design (It's a "lay down" GPU facing opposite the board, like the S4)

With both fans venting to "fresh air" I was thinking about sewing up a "sock" from either cotton or polyester t shirt material and slipping it over the whole thing.

This could solve a whole lot of esthetic problems as well (No need for fancy pants vent slots, just a wire-frame to keep the "sock" in the right form)

Anyone smarter than me ever tried this? I checked, polyesters flash point is about 120c and cotton is a touch higher..

my gut feel says it'd be a bad idea, since you'd be restricting too much airflow when you're using denser filters. I'd guess the shirt would become a wall when it absorbs water or dust or dirt or whatnot.

You could use material designed to filter out dust instead, e.g. HVAC filters, or speaker grill material.

ooookay, really really bad idea.

EDIT: Actually I'd link you to Josh's reply over in the S4 Mini thread regarding filters, since his case has a similar cooling setup as one you're interested in.
