Hello from Australia,

Background:
Originally had a NZXT H510i Build but decided to go down the SFF, was considering the NZXT H1 due to its simple build process as it was my first SFF build but stock is an issue in Australia.

Move forward 3 weeks later, after numerous youtube videos and research I am set on the below build:

Case: Dan A4 v4.1 Black (Purchased & Awaiting Delivery)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900x (Purchased)
Motherboard: MSI B550i MPG Gaming Edge WIFI (Purchased)
RAM: G Skill Trident Z 3200mhz 32GB Kit (Purchased)
Drives: Segate Firecuda 520 1TB M.2 Drive (Purchased)
PSU: Corsair SF600 Platinum (Purchased & Awaiting Delivery)
Cooling: Asetek 645 AIO with Noctua NF-A9x14 Chromax Slim Fan (Purchased & Awaiting Delivery)
Addition Cooling: Noctua NF-A9x14 Chromax Slim Fan for under M/B (Purchased & Awaiting Delivery)
Graphics Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GAMING X 6G Graphics Card (Card from previous build and awaiting Series 3 from Nvidia to be released)

No.1 issue from all builders with the AIO Cooler is cable management with the stock psu cables. At the current moment custom cables is not a possibility due to timing and cost to get them in Australia.

Hopefully will complete the build by end of August, if there are any tips and tricks please let me know.

Bit nervous on the cooling of the 3900x as well, at the moment have it at 4.1ghz @ 1.150 volts and on a 120mm AIO Prime95 hits 91c with 3 case Fans

Will update on progress and hope all goes well.

Cheers

Good luck. I refrained from moving to 645 AIO because of the SF600 sleeved cables and mainly the 2.5" 4TB drive space i would loose. Having a 3700x, its already toasty.

I can only say if you do not get custom cables do not use the 645LT.

Better get one of these:
  • Noctua L9a with fan duct,
  • Alpenfän Black Ridge with VLP Ram and 120mm slim fan
  • Thermalright AXP-90 Copper
In Ryzen Master Software or UEFI you limit the 3900X to 65W and it will run without going the AIO route. You will lose some FPS in 65W but only in high FPS gamin in lower resultions like 1080p. It will work like a 3900 none X (OEM exclusive) https://www.tomshardware.com/review...erclock-65w-world-record-unreleased,6371.html

I am currently in the process of building something similar to this. I have a set of 3600 16×2 G-skill trident z neo. After looking at everyone else's build with the 645lt, they all went with corsair vengeance that is low clearence. Will the gskill have clearence issues with the hoses from the 645lt?

There a deal in my area where a 3900x is the same price as 5600x. I currently have i7 6700 with Asetek 645lt as cooler. Can it really handle the 3900x? For me it's ok not to overclock.

should be able to handle stock, and runs really cool if you enable ECO mode. have you factor in the motherboard though? since you're currently on Intel

I might be looking into a B550 board. Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX or MSI MPG B550I Gaming Edge Wifi which costs 200USD. CPU is 375usd so total would be 575usd. Will mostly use for FPS games (for now) and light video and photo editing. Maybe it's overkill and just get 5600x?

I'm not versed on the productivity side of thing but if your software can leverage multi-threads then 3900X will help a lot with x2 the cores & threads. but if your prioritise absolute high-refresh FPS then go 5600X. for the board not sure about the local pricing situation where you are but usually the Aorus B550I is the cheapest and best p/p of all the B550/X570 ITX boards

The Aorus pro is +50usd. I'll have a look and weigh on the features. Thanks for the replies. I'm just glad that 3900x is still viable.

I used to run the 3900X in the A4 with L9a and BR and it was completely fine so your use-case is even better since you've got an AIO. And not sure how you feel about 50USD but I would still take the Aorus board over MSI, had the X570i Aorus (same board, just different chipset) and it was rock solid!

Downside of the Aorus pro I see is that there is no USB C header for the front panel. What's was your use case with the 3900x? Was it just pure gaming? Did you always stay on ECO mode?

In the A4 - full time ECO mode, stock & PBO is a tad too much for the little air coolers. My use case is gaming + bluestack (I give it 4C/8T haha) + 20-30 chrome tab simultaneously, all entertainment and no productivity :D

If you can find one at a decent price, the 3950x is cooler than the 3900x - lower clock speed but more cores so it cools better as per optimum tech. I'm running a 3950x on an aorus x570 board with a 645lt, a noctua on top of the 645 and another noctua underneath the motherboard. Using pslate custom cables.

what is your use case for this? are you able to use it for video rendering?

@vcxzy I'm a film vfx artist so I need as much cpu power as I can possibly get. Typically my scenes are too big to git into GPU memory so CPU and normal ram are still really relevant. I've been so busy in work this year that I haven't fully pushed the system yet, my chaosgroup vray benchmark scores are a huge jump on my previous 3930k though!
