News Asrock mATX X399 / mATX X299 / Z370 MicroSTX

https://www.asrock.com/news/index.asp?iD=3888

ASRock X399M Taichi
ASRock X299M Extreme4
Z370 DeskMini GTX

To show off at CES 2018.

I know some of you have been waiting for these for a while!

Cerberus Threadripper finally doable :)

Would have loved to see 10GbE on them, since the AQ107 chipset has been shipping for a while. But I guess we can't have everything. At least there's extra PCIe slots to put an AQ107 in.

Ryzen APU in STX without the MXM expansion would be pretty awesome as a very tiny, very portable budget computer to play games on low

Not trying to be a downer because this all sounds great, but is the z370 Deskmini really going to ship without thunderbolt 3? I was hoping it would come with that...

Most likely. Their product page has nothing about it. That being said we never got that deskmini 250 sku without the mxm card and the deal with aetina for affordable mxm cards advertised at computex 2016 so :/

oh right I misread it as 7950X ._.

is there extra for imports to japan? The (currently) 330USD ATX Taichi sells for 44,927JPY there (~425USD)

I kinda decided: 12-core Zen+, then see how Zen 3 will go about. probably won't go HAM that hard till 2020, LOL

I wonder if the new Threadripper they'll announce in 2nd half this year will be 20% faster than current one. Because right now the i9 platform kinda looks better from power / cooling / efficiency perspective.

got this from the PCworld article: it's a minor shrink and a few OC improvements for Zen+, but not sure if it'd translate directly for threadripper:

The new chips will feature the newer Precision Boost 2 frequency control, and an improved XFR2 clockspeed booster. The new chips will also include an improved cache, as well as memory-speed and latency improvements. Officials told us unofficially to expect at least a 10-percent performance increase.

Which then makes me wonder how quickly will intel respond ... and will there be a new platform needed other than X299 ?

X299 should be staying for one more generation after SKL-X / KBL-X I think. intel's consistent here so far...

EDIT: Newegg's listing taken down, LOL
EDITx2: oh wait dammit it's showing up on mobile but redirecting on PC. DAMMIT COOKIES

X299 has one CPU generation to go, as does Z3xx (Intel have stuck two two-gens-per-socket for the last decade). We haven't even seen the entire Z3xx range launch yet though so I wouldn't expect anything else for a while yet.

been checking on availability for the X399M (about once a week. ish. the other way). soooooo far it's still Newegg only, Amazon doesn't seem to be getting some, and I doubt the distro in my area is going to carry any :c
