7% performance increase using dual channel dual rank ram over dual channel single rank....Found on Reddit AMD section.
First proven way back with A10-7850k APU.
7% increase in 2400G FPS puts it significantly closer to RX550 performance.
Found out mine is Dual rank
4th one down.currently clocked at 2933 1.2v 16.16.16.35

Fucking leach. Screwing over a third party like that.
While it is not entirely ethical there is no need for the personal attacks. Until all manufacturers have a way of updating the UEFI to a newer version without the need for a CPU, we either have to:
  1. Buy the motherboard from a brick and mortar store and have them update it or
  2. Buy a supported CPU, update the firmware, and return said CPU
Option 1 is not always available.

Well put Soul Est. Plus I am sure there will be younger children keen on making and modding their own PCs that have access here, and we do not want to give the impression that language they would not use in front of their Grandparents is the acceptable way to communicate here.

I bought my MB from a well known online-high st store, asked if they could update BIOS to latest before shipping , not a problem and duly done and shipped with no delay and no charge. and no swearing

I see too many of that type of person. They just screw the rest of us over by abusing generous policies.
They are the reason we can't have good things.

What on earth are you ranting about? Are you unwell?
?

For those that my quoted post were too subtle:

The poster suggested that you’d order a processor from Amazon, use it to update your bios, and then returning it to Amazon.
People like that don’t care that they hurt a third party by abusing generous policies regarding return of products. You hurt the corporation financially for something that isn’t their fault.

Behaviour like that erodes the foundation for those generous policies (and the laws that underpin them), giving politicians and corporations valid reason to slash consumer protection.

People need to realise that their small frauds have consequences. It damages our social fabric.

What you should do (obviously) is to go to the source of the problem, AMD and the manufacturer of the motherboard which guaranteed(?) compatability with unreleased processors. Demand they update it, they already have an organization for RMA.

Funny enough, AMD's Kaveri APU launch was exactly the same.

I had to buy an older processor in order to flash the bios to support my Kaveri CPU. It wouldn't boot/enter bios with the Kaveri chip installed.

It wasn't that big of a deal though, the processor I had to buy cost $40 but still -it kinda ruins the excitement of putting a rig together when it doesn't just 'work' out of the box.

It makes me wonder how do they prepare for the mobo if it could support the latest version of the cpu, I remembered a while back I purchase an asrock desk mini, which is an stx barebone and that time, I think kabeylake just literaly came out weeks and still purchased, and still it worked out of the box. Maybe it was just because it is a barebone system? I know thats not the case.

Anyways regarding the hype train I was all in.. I even pre purchases a 350board for it,
I was so hyped I was thinking am4 boards would be over priced by retailers on the 2400 launch. Hehe went overbaord about that too much..

I wont get deep into this but I will say that the idea that its hurting Amazon is laughable. They cost in fraud, lost deliverys, damaged product, etc into their business model. This is a company that has said on numerous occasions that they prefere to eat the fraud costs instead of taking the CVV number off your credit card. Their are a gigantic business that has managed to swallow basically every mom and pop business they compete with. Their return policys likely go further than most legal systems that they do business in, @xcrco isnt costing Amazon any money they havent already built into their pricing model.

TL;DR
Dont hate the player, hate the game

EDIT: typos / clarity

I wonder what this boot kit will consist of

Boot Kit Solution

AMD will provide affected and qualified users a boot kit to perform the BIOS update on their motherboard.

This solution is offered through AMD warranty services and is available only for affected and qualified users of this specific boot up issue. This boot kit is fee of charge.

To obtain the boot kit, please carefully follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the AMD online warranty claims page: https://support.amd.com/en-us/warranty/rma
  2. Fill in your full contact and product details
  3. In the Problem Description field enter "Boot kit Required" (without quotes)

NOTE: The product must be a valid AMD processor with authentic OPN and serial number.

Once the claim is received and approved, confirmation details and boot kit instructions will be provided in a follow up email.

Sigh, it is nice to tell yourself lies like that to make your actions almost seem laudable. Because you aren’t the trash stealing packages by claiming someone took it from your porch, or abusing policies, or cheating on your taxes.
You’re just fighting the big guy who’s earned it by being the biggest.
Logical. Duh.

That it is cheaper to generally let fraud slip than get the trash angry and sabotaging their business by lying about their treatment doesn’t make it right.

Don’t commit fraud. Especially not against third parties, go to the root of the problem. In this case AMD and the motherboard manufacturers.

Microcenter is offering a $15 BIOS update for your mobo if you need it up to date for Raven Ridge. Hopefully mine already is.

Here are some power readout tests from a Redditor using the 2400G in different voltage configurations. Stock boost pushes it at 100W at the wall.

Undervolting could let you get away with using a 90W power brick. I want to push more power with this chip, though, settling on a 120W :)

I will be building mine in the MX500. I think it will be able to fit a 200W meanwell inside. Also $15 is a bit annoying. Should be a free service. Luckily I have a 1700 in my main system.

Should be able to check the bios chip to see if yours is already compatible though.

Haven't fully committed yet but I think I will go with 2200G.

Why are you choosing the 2200G over the 2400G?

I just bought a 2200G from MC today, and used a coupon to offset some of the tax. Personally I went with it over the 2400G as it's better bang for the buck. The graphics performance is very close to the 2400G, and OCing it would match that. But some heavily threaded-bound games might suffer a bit, for example I've noticed for example in tests with BF1 all 4 cores were working at max.

CC Ricers, a question if I may:
You quote various power draw examples, power readout tests from a Redditor using the 2400G in different voltage configurations. These readouts give 75 w to 102 watt, at the wall, for which you suggest 90>120 watt power bricks will suffice.
Power bricks to power what? Pico? HDPlex? G-Unique? Just wondering what you have in mind.
I have Pico 120, 150 and 160 and a G-Unique 120 watt .along with a G-Unique 300 w limited edition, but this I will be using with my 2400G because of custom cabling anyway.
I also intend to get a 2200G as well as the 2400G and both APUs will be run at stock.
You reckon a 120w will be more than enough for a stock 2200G?
If so , great, but I had anticipated more power needed for a good overhead, because I worked it out this way.
APU 65w
MB 10w
M.2
10w
HSDD 10w
ssd
5-7w
USB device 10w
extra fan 5w

That`s 117 watt so far without 16GB DDR4 included so you can see where I am going with this.
It does look like more power may be needed.
Using outervision, ( I chose the A8-7600 for CPU seeing as Ravenridge is not a choice on there yet and power draw is close enough to use as a substitute) I got the following.
https://outervision.com/b/aH5o0M

No doubt the PCpartpicker tool will find much the same. I generally use these to assess a potential builds power requirements.
