I am looking into building Mini-ITX PC with APU.
My initial plan was to buy Mini-ITX motherboard with latest chipset - and simple APU for now (like 3200G)
And then next year upgrade to 5000 series APUs (hope they will be available..?)

So I look into this spec from AMD - https://www.amd.com/en/chipsets/a520,
5000 series will be supported in A520, B550, X570. Good!
I don't need any overclocking, so simpliest A520 chipset motherboard can do the job right.
For example, Asrock A520M-ITXac - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/A520M-ITXac/index.asp

but .. At some point I realized, that 3200G and 3400G are not supported by A520 and B550.
And 4000x series APU are not available on the market (only for OEM), like Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G

So.. Are there any compatible APUs for A520 and B550 motherboards?

Other options would be:
- search for X570 Mini-ITX motherboard and then get 3200G - not sure if such mobos exist.
-- Or go with INTEL

What's your location? You can always find 4350G/4650G/4750G either on some local retailers (such as CentralPoint in the Netherlands), eBay or even AliExpress.

Here is Germany the situation is pretty dire as well. Aside from 1-2 sketchy sellers on Ebay with very mixed reviews, the only shops selling Renoir APUs sell them as part of "upgrade bundles" together with motherboards. For example:

And of course those bundled motherboards aren't miniITX boards. ?

I had hopes that AMD would release the retail versions of these APUs after announcing the Zen 3 CPUs, but unfortunately that hasn't happened yet.

It is really bad situation nowadays.

1. if need a future-proof AMD PC now with APU - then options are:
A520 / B550 - and try to find Ryzen APU 4000 series somewhere - not available on Amazon.de and other good stores, only on some not so famous ones.. And the price for 4350G (simpliest APU) honestly is not near 3200G at the moment :(
X570 motherboars can support 3200G- there are even mini-itx ones, but price for such mobo is doubled compared to A520, so not a good option as well.

2. You can always go with non-future-proof chipset if you know that you are not planning to upgrade to 5000 series Ryzen.

3. You can go with Intel 10 gen APU and 4xx chipset. It is not officially confirmed this chipset will support 11th gen Intel APUs which are rumored to be "ryzen killer"...

4. If you do not need to buy new PC now, It is better to wait half a year for next generations of APUs both by Intel and AMD..

So, I am really confused, cause I was planning to buy everything now..

The X570 MB's will run both the Ryzen 5 3400G and the Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G. My GIGABYTE ITX X570 I AORUS Pro Wi-Fi came with the F20 BIOS that did not need any update to run either chip. MB costs a bit more but no hassles.
