GIGABYTE reveals next-gen 16-core Atom Server ITX board

GIGABYTE Server, the enterprise and embedded branch of Gigabyte’s consumer brand, has released the specifications for its MA10-ST0 motherboard, complete with Intel Atom C3958 SoC (System on a Chip). This is remarkable since this is the first sighting of this SoC, which is a Denverton-family CPU that has only been revealed as a dual-core C3338 with a 1.5 GHz base clock and 2.2 GHz boost clock. SilverStone at Computex 2017 – Workstation and Server

Members of the forum are aware of this, but I’m a workstation and server nut. I love systems built for purpose, for work. Possibly because I work so hard in everything I do! When we visited the SilverStone booth at  Computex 2017, I was in awe of some of the hardware they had on display – cases and accessories built for purpose, for work! Intel Manages to Get a 16 Core Xeon Under 45W.. With a Few Catches

Intel has launched their Xeon D-1571 SoC, a 16 core server and workstation class CPU that supports hyperthreading. This System on Chip SKU is based on the Broadwell architecture and Intel has managed to get it to run at 45w TDP! An amazing feat of engineering considering the CPU has 16 cores and HT, making 32 threads. This is an embedded style SoC though, and will only be available on pricey, but sturdy, server and workstation boards from the likes of Supermicro (like the one pictured above) and Tyan.
