Maxsun, purveyor of some of the more unique motherboards and graphics cards available on the market, has launched a darker compatriot to their (quite cool looking) white and orange socket AM5 MS-eSport B850ITX board.
An odd choice in expansion, Maxsun has decided to split the SOC’s PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes into an open ended x8 slot for your expansion card, and a pair of M.2 Gen 5 x4 slots to complement the single M.2 slot provided for by the SOC. I’d wager this is a decision based on the sheer bandwidth available with even 8 lanes of PCIe 5.0 – your GPU may not be suffocated by the lack of lanes here.

The BKB moniker in the name refers to the board’s back-to-back nature, with the main PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 expansion slot on the backside of the board. The front, open-ended PCIe x8 slot on the front of the board is PCIe Gen 3 in its’ nature.

The usual dual DDR5 DIMM slots are present, as well as the expected ATX 24 pin and EPS 8 pin power inputs. Rear IO isn’t clear at this time, with TechPowerup stating that “The board also comes with Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5 GbE wired LAN, HDMI+DP display outputs, and USB connectivity that includes 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C.’
Expansion includes a single M.2 slot on the rear of the board as well one on the top, a SFF 8564 4i MiniSAS connector, one front Type-C header, one front USB 5Gbps header, two USB 2.0 headers, two SATA ports and one 5V addressable RGB header. 3 4-Pin PWM fan headers are also included.
On the rear IO, a pair of WiFi connectors, the usual RJ45 for LAN, 3 audio ports, a DisplayPort and HDMI port (from what I can see) as well as a plethora of USB ports.
