Crucial is launching their new line of PCIe 5.0 NVME drives called the T700. Coming in 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB sizes, both with and without heatsinks, the drives support read speeds of up to 12,400MB/s and write speeds of up to 11,800MB/s. They have an endurance of 2400TB, and a five-year warranty.
The drives either come with a heatsink or as bare units, however no word yet on if the heatsinks are size compatible with the Playstation 5. Just by eyeballing it, I would say they are not. All of the drives are backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 standards.
Pricing for this bleeding edge drive is of course on the high side.
1TB – $179.99
2TB – $339.99
4TB – $599.99
1TB with Heatsink – $209.99
2TB with Heatsink – $369.99
4TB with Heatsink – $629.99

In the meantime, those looking for a rock solid albeit less expensive drive may want to consider the Crucial P3 Plus 1TB. It’s currently going for $51.99 US on Amazon, and offers read speeds of up to 5000MB/s. I’ve been using this drive on my test bench for game storage for a few weeks now and it’s been rock solid.
