Alphacool Launches Apex Stealth and Power Metal 120mm Fans; Igor’s LAB Give it Editor’s Choice

Alphacool has launched their new Apex Stealth and Power Metal 120mm fan lines, and has received an extremely positive review from Igor’s Lab. The fans feature a metal housing as well as a decoupled fan, motor, and suspension system. The main motor uses Hydro Dynamic Bearings, and can spin the fan up to 2,000 or 3,000 RPM depending on the model. The Stealth Metal models can push a very high static air pressure of 3.88mmH20 while the Stealth Metal Power units can push 6.22mm H20.

One consideration to keep in mind is that due to the metal housing, these fans weigh 400g each. This can cause issues with some heavy air coolers.

Igor’s LAB did a deep dive review of the fan and found that it compared very favorably against even the Noctua A12-x25 PWM, and showed substantial improvements to airflow and pressure while being substantially quieter RPM for RPM in testing. At 2,000 RPM, there was over a 20 dBA difference between the Noctua and Alphacool. At 3,000 RPM, the Alphacool was still quieter than the Noctua when the Noctua was at 2,000 RPM. The Alphacool also outperformed both the Cooler Master Mobius and Be Quiet! Silentwings Pro 4.
