CPU X99 or Skylake?

So I don't spend much time researching the high end...why should I when I have access to the best minds right here? :)

Right now I have a X99 rig that I am super happy with that I use for my 3D and video rendering. I'm going to be upgrading the M.2 storage and grabbing at least 32GB of RAM but I am thinking about going higher for DaVinci Resolve.

I'm not anxious to upgrade, but I have a project due for Computex in the next week and I would like to use the same motherboard (EVGA Micro 2) in that build and getting another short notice would be a challenge.

So the real question. I'm wondering if I would get more performance out of a overclocked Skylake CPU or with the 5820k @ 4.2Ghz for multithreaded apps. Does the superior math core on the Skylake end up edging out the haswell-E at 5.2Ghz (I think I could get one stable in my rig at that for every day use).

I dunno...I thought I would get some expert opinions here rather than doing my un-expert thinking for myself.

Peace, and thanks!

About the EVGA Micro2: I'm reading horrible stories about the M.2 so I'd make absolutely sure before going that route on this board.

Secondly, if single-core power is important, an i7-6700K will be hard to beat (certainly stock) but I'd be amazed if a heavily OC'ed 5820K would not be close or able to match a heavily OC'ed 5820K. In the end, that money could go towards a workstation-class GPU or a nice monitor, which will in all likelyhood give more tangible benefits.

Thanks guys. Yeah, my renderer barely uses the GPU even with acceleration enabled, but it will peg all cores and threads on my Haswell-E.

I have the Micro 2 board now, and have had issues with the M.2, but the good news is they haven't been horror stories--just inconveniences and it was a PITA getting it setup in UEFI until they had a BIOS fix.

I guess I am still stuck on this question. Hmmf.

Is there a Micro ATX board with raidable dual M.2 slots? I've seen one with addon card raid for M.2 but nothing native.
