Sup, this my first post (just got a small form PC, so I'll be around). Sorry if this is the wrong section or something.

So I've recently come into a Gateway SX series computer, not even sure which, but they've all got the same basic exterior. This one..

It's got a pretty shoddy GPU and I was hoping to throw a low profile 1050 TI (MSI) in there for better gaming. The only problem is that I'm not entirely sure if it will fit.. So I figure you guys might know best.

I'm talking about this card.

Thanks in advance.

Does the system have a PCIe x16 slot? Also it looks like your wifi solution might be occupying the space that the card would take up (and potentially the slot as well)

Yes, it does. I actually don't have a wifi card there (use a USB). I'm just concerned that the fans on there, which seem pretty beefy, might prevent me from using the card. I've got a super slim Radeon 6670 (came with the computer) card in there right now, it's got about 1\4 inch of space from the top of the case. The GTX would have to be about the same size\slightly taller to fit. I can't really find dimensions for the card anywhere so I'm stuck playing it by eye. I just really don't want to drop $170 on a card that might not fit.

Here are a few pics to illustrate how much space we're talking about.

It doesn't look like your going to be able to get a dual slot card (a card that uses a single slot electrically but uses two slots worth of space to make room for the cooler) in that top slot.

EDIT: That MSI card you linked in OP is a dual slot card.

There are a few single slot low profile 1050's. IIRC there are people on the forum who own the ASL version. It would be worth measuring twice to make sure whatever single slot card you look at isnt too long for the case though.

Alternatively, just go with the dual slot low profile and junk the wifi card. Use a USB wifi adapter like this, which is cheap plenty powerful: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003YIFHJY/?tag=theminutiae-20

That wont work, the x16 slot is the upper slot w/ the heatsink'd side of the cartd facing the top side of the case, you wont get a dual slot anything in there, on the bright side you dont loose your x1 slot though i suppose.

Yeah, OEM Motherboards are the worst. I'd go with that single slot card linked above :) Could've used that when I got my first prebuilt.
