So I'm planning to build an stx that could power a 1050/1030 based on @Harutips build

https://smallformfactor.net/forum/t...llest-gaming-pc-gtx-1050ti-g4600-sfx-mb.6247/
he is using an asus with sata onboard to power the m.2

But i'll be using an Asrock desk mini 110 , I will be using the 110w dc that supplied with it.

this what looks like, the supplied sata connector from the asrock board itself (sata combo female)
flimsy sata cable provided by asrock

As for my m.2 riser, ill be using this to supply power to the riser ( sata male 15 pin).

Will this work to grab power from the sata cable?

of course i'll be using the pentium T line in mind (35W) and probably 1030 lower tdp also 35w.

I want to use a 1050 but might be too close.

Can any experience minds chime on this? thanks bunch.. or is it not worth awhile

Cheers~

I might suggest getting a barebones Deskmini MXM model - You can get older MXM 3.0 graphics cards for pretty cheap, and pairing that with your lower-power processor would be much easier. But also much less work for a project ;)

I don't have numbers to support this, but my gut feeling is you won't be getting enough power needed for the riser through the sata port. I might be wrong though.

I think I considered this at one point too. If I remember correctly, the special sata connector on the Asrock H110 motherboards don't provide 12v, which is all that the riser uses. Check the motherboard manual to be sure, I think there's one on asrock's website.
