GPU When can we expect mini models of the 11xx cards?

Do the normal and mini card release the same day, or will the mini cards come out later, and how much later?
I know they are not announced officially yet, but maybe you guys know what happened during the 10xx in regards to this?

1080 FE launched 5/2016
1070 FE launched 6/2016

Zotac 1080 Mini 1/2017
Zotac 1070 Mini 9/2016
Gigabyte 1080 Mini 10/2017
Gigabyte 1070 Mini 7/2016

So, it could be as soon as 1-3 months after launch of a FE or it could be as long as 8-17 months. And it appears that 1170 should have the Mini variants much sooner.

1180 FE is rumoured to come out at end of August and 1170FE at end of September.

I am just hoping in time for Christmas, because a GTX 1170 would be an awesome present for myself.

Thanks for the answer.

I’m only really interested in the 1160.
I won’t be gaming in anything else than 1080p, and I am concerned the 80/70 will have much louder fans.

With this timeframe I think my best option is to pick up a used 1060 shortly after the 1180 launch then use it until 1160 mini is out.

1060 FE launched July 2016 and Zotac, EVGA and Gigabyte's 1060 Mini came out on the same month or 1 month later.
If history repeats itself, then it is good news to you.

1160 FE is rumoured to come out by end of October.
So, 1160 Mini variants might come out by November. If this is true, I would suggest not buying an used 1060 at all because it would be used only for 3 months or so, unless you desperately need a card to fill in this time gap.

That’s great!

I’m getting a i5-8400 so I can use the integrated graphics until new year (hopefully not that long).

Same hope here. I am eyeing a non reference 1170 for my new build near year end.

Gamescom 2018 will be on 20th August. Note the ''latest Geforce hardware.....some spectacular surprises.'' in the link below. Most people bet on the 1180FE and 1170FE being physically demonstrated.

I was reading about that yesterday, good sign that new GPUs are right around the corner. Really hoping that the next generation runs so cool that we will see many versions with itx sizes. Hopefully won't take too long to drop.

I'm hoping that AMD will be able to at least show up reasonably soon to counter NVs new lineup. NV's shady business practices have disinclined me to further buying their products (1060 owner here), no matter their technical superiority.

Fortunately, just like CPUs, GPUs have largely delivered "enough" performance for the last few generations that unless you're running a bleeding edge system, upgrades are less and less a requirement than a convenience.

As I've said before, I'm most excited for the low profile offerings. Trying to make my next PC as tiny as possible.

LP cards will probably be a longer wait as they are on the tail end (low end) of the GPU offerings. GTX 1150 LP would be good as I would expect it to be at least on par with the GTX 1060.

Yeah I know, but I'm hoping for more of a 1070 level of performance. and if someone made a single slot like ASL did with the 1050/1050ti.

Bad news boys.

1180 is a 6+8 pin so its likely not as effecient architecture as pascal.

The fact that nvidia is also pushing game streaming services mean they want stronger mining cards for themselves.

Expect significantly better productivity benchmarks than the 10 series and expect similiar power effeciency (even with the gddr6 switch)

Nvidia has no incentive to invest heavily in a strong gaming architecture bc they have no competition

What this means is that the 11 series will pobably have similiar power to performance effeciency in gaming to the 10 series. So if your thermally or energy limited (which you are in alot of sff cases) i highly doubt the mini cards will be a step up this gen..

Where'd you see that about the 6+8 requirement?

This sounds like something Nvidia would say to sell off the overstock of the 10xx cards.

I’m going to stick and wait for the 1160 mini. Hoping it will fit in the S4m. (I’ll make it fit).

The 1160 should have plenty horsepower to play everything in ultra at 1080p for a long time. Since I will not play in higher resolutions there is no need spending so much for a 1180, also I can understand the 1160 mini might be out sooner than the 1180 based on what happened with the 10xx launch.

Do you expect the 1160 to also take 6+8?

This was also true before the release of Pascal, actually more so since AMD hadn't released VEGA yet. Look at the increase in performance from Maxwell to Pascal.

Let me be clear. Its 100% a prediction that im making and not fact.

That being said the 1180 is about to drop and i dont reccomend you buy a 10 series chip now id wait for it to drop a ton over the next few months.

The 1160 wont be out for a little bit after that and a mini should follow soon after.

Every architecture is different. I could be completely wrong and ill only know when i see the benchmarks. But what the trend is low budget RnD on new hardware produces generalist performance. Nvidia has no reason to invest hard atm because they have incentive to squeeze as much out of the gddr6 market as possible.
