Hello all,

this is a love letter to my Ncase M1 v5.

I've upgraded a lot of my components recently but am still using my Asus Z170I Pro Gaming motherboard with the m.2 drive bay on the read of the motherboard.

I was annoyed by the lack of ventilation or cooling for the NVMe drive and temps under stress loads were 83°C to peak 111°C!

3x 2mm thermal pad later and the side panel of my NCASE has dropped those temps to 45°C peak 52°C.

Hope you are all doing well. Below are some pics.

My setup:
Asus Z170I Pro Gaming
i7 7700K @ 5Ghz delided - running at 85°C - Prime95
Noctua NH-C14 (old version) - allows full 140mm fans on top.
MSI 3070 Ventus 3x deshrouded (waiting for a 8mm fan duct to be printed) - running at 71°C - Furmark
32GB Corsair Vengance
1TB Samsung Evo 970 Evo

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

83°C -> 45°C what a temp drop!
And good job pushing your 7700k to 5GHz! 🔥

Old M1 is best M1! Love it!

I did something similar with another case recently, but I'll definitely be doing it for the M1 as well.

You've certainly gotten your money's worth out of that 7700K. Any plans to upgrade soon? Maybe 9800X3D?
